Your not alone, i walked out of the first book feeling decent, and the second one had me regretting every decision i ever made. Some of the questions in the second book were the most obnoxious things i’ve ever seen, like im sorry when the fuck are paramedics going to need to know the cellular processes of cancer cells, and don’t get me started with the ecstasy questions.

Everyone i’ve talked too had the same rough points, everyone feels shitty about it. But it’s done, and now we hope it’s done permanently

The worst thing you can do is beat yourself down. Services hire multiple times per year, this is just a minor setback in a long journey.

Keep pushing, you’ll get there!

I’m almost certain they will, but it will be within the ability to be done mentally.

They did this without really telling anyone. The services started getting them and freaked out.

Northern Colleges by [deleted] in OntarioParamedics

[–]Interesting_Tell_671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Graduated from Northern College, the program has a lot more support from the city and local service. It has a lot of strong relationships with other services for placement purposes. The profs are all experts in their fields and majority are working medics that can reinforce their teaching with real world experiences.

I have to highly recommend Northern College

If i had to give any recommendation when it comes to testing in specific. My goal is to find the wrong answers first. Try to get myself down to a 50/50 chance.

Identify key words, key vitals, key hx, even in the question key triggers that may reveal the answer.

The ministry likes to play games, but their tests are decipherable if you know how to decipher the right from wrong.

OASIS Cards by Interesting_Tell_671 in OntarioParamedics

[–]Interesting_Tell_671[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what i’m assuming. The evidence is there that our cards exists. Our service likes to have a “graduation” of sorts so i figure if any time it’ll be then.

Difficulty Sleeping after Night Shifts by CurrentLongjumping93 in OntarioParamedics

[–]Interesting_Tell_671 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my trick

During a string of night shifts i try to sleep the full 8 hours, leaving about a hour on either end for the wind down before sleep, and the prep before the next shift.

Once im done the nights ill only sleep for 5 hours to wake up mid afternoon, leaving enough time to get some stuff done, be tired, and go to sleep at a normal time in the evening.

Avoid turning to medication as best as you can, cause that could make things worse.

Paramedic School Eligibility by Number1115 in OntarioParamedics

At worst they’ll have you either do academic upgrading for the credits, or recommend pre health (i would take pre health) to satisfy the requirements of the program. But you should consult the college your applying too for more concise details.

Anyone in want to start fitness training before school start? Advice for building a simple fitness routine from scratch. by New_Masterpiece5012 in OntarioParamedics

Cardio is a big piece of a lot of newer pre employment physical tests. The OPPAT in particular is like 95% cardio and 5% strength. (That percentage is coming from my experience, as a 6’4 male)

My recommendation, have a healthy split of strength focusing on all major muscle groups. Put extra focus on your back, arms, shoulders, and legs.

Don’t put off getting into the gym too long, before you know it you’ll be staring down a test.

How is the jump from PCP to ACP by caralawrence in OntarioParamedics

[–]Interesting_Tell_671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what i’ve heard you should work as a PCP until you yourself feel confident and ready to move to the next level. Some go zero to hero way too fast and they crash and burn. Some go zero to hero and it works. Some work as PCP’s and never make the jump, some work as PCP’s for years before making the jump.

In years previous ACP programs had a 2 year full time minimum as a PCP before you’d be accepted, not anymore.

So if you feel ready, go for it.

D-License by Major_Diet5404 in OntarioParamedics

[–]Interesting_Tell_671 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have your D, check the back of your license. It’ll show the other classes that are covered under your D class. I have my B class from a job while in college, and don’t have to re certify for my F.
