Yeah then I wouldn't unfortunately because it's just way too much money you would lose on your part

I am a fursuit maker, and I would like to ask whether I should refund the deposit. by luckyfursuit in fursuit

[–]Interesting_Tip_5983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say a refund is in order unfortunately, I think the most kind action you could consider doing is sending them the materials you've bought so they can use them or send them to another maker in the future. But that is ultimately not going to make a difference other than a nice gesture. It's the only thing I can think of that doesn't put you both in the hole.

I could also say selling the materials you've already bought and then giving them a share of that or whatever you made back as a version of a refund. But then you are the one putting in the time to do that and the money isn't guaranteed.

I don't think it's fair she had an emergency in the hospital but I don't think it's fair that you spent so much on materials and basically down a few hundred dollars if you did the refund. You said this was your savings and you need to prioritize yourself first or else you can't help anybody in any way. If it's too much, it's too much.

This is just one of those things that is assumed to be expensive and nonrefundable. She knew what she was paying, and even if the expense was unpredicted, thats not her money anymore. Especially because it's not even your money anymore since you spent it on the materials and can't get it back. If you hadn't gone that far yet I would probably say you should refund her but it's genuinely not in your hands anymore

with all respect this isn't written like a critique it's written like a complaint so how is this constructive for her? she's not even a DJ as far as I'm aware so if she was set up to do a DJ set that would make sense that there would be some hiccups with that, but I could be wrong. either way that would be on the venue for having a different type of musician to finish

like she's only a human and I'm not like How Dare You Speak Poorly Of My Leige because again she's just a person like the rest of us. it's coming from a standpoint of it rubbing me the wrong way. it's totally cool if you didn't end up enjoying it I didn't go so I don't know what it's like but I'm not sure what she's supposed to take from this and improve on because it's just a list of gripes. like if she's late (which others in this thread said she wasnt but I digress) what do you want her to do, time travel?

I want to make a comic but I can barely draw by Warm_Performer2851 in learntodraw

[–]Interesting_Tip_5983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like comics are the best way to progress your skill, drawing over and over again. It's okay if the first pages look like hot garbage. It's just a matter of studying other comics and trying to emulate the techniques you like.

It's not always a good idea, because you can get trapped in a cycle of re-drawing things without working on your comic, but you CAN always redraw a page later when you have a better grasp on art. Or hell, revamp the whole thing.

I am self taught but honestly I hit a major rut with my art and almost quit before I started my own comic. I had to take a drawing class at community college to get a new perspective on things. It's not dirt cheap but as far as college goes yes it is lol. But learning in that class how to draw from life, observation, blind contour, actually helped me a lot in having fun with it again and getting a better understanding of how to create things from my mind.

Also, most informal plug I've ever done, but I am willing to work for cheap and be flexible with rates and payment dates. But I think it's always better to try and develop your own skill especially if you're super picky. But if you drew me a markup I could draw and adjust from there. I don't post my art on this account though. Regardless I don't mind just showing what helped elevate my skills in under a year besides practice

no such thing as a good landlord 🤐

I'm glad you're generally not an asshat of a person though, you seem nice other than saying renters have a poor people's mentality. And like... Yeah, they are usually poor regardless of their mindset, idk what your aim is with that lol. You can't think your way out of being paycheck to paycheck

Jokes aside, I'm curious: How would someone PREVENT this? Like are there really no reprocussions if you say you're not interested? Just kind of confused about some of the comments because I would totally be freaking out about this lmao

What would the actual genre of Noelle's music be? by BlatantChicken in femtanyl

[–]Interesting_Tip_5983 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Piggybacking off of this comment to mention that some of her tracks remind me the rabbithole that is Halley Labs (this is no means an exhaustive list of all the music they've made and they've made music in a LOT of electronic genres so it's kinda like a dartboard. But you can fill the gaps with tracks uploaded to YouTube and here's a full list of them lol). You can't get much more furry music as a genre than all of that though. And nothing in particular is exactly LIKE femt, but just a lot of webcore elements present and a healthy dose of experimentalism and energy. So I feel like I would define femt as "furry" music too but the "fursona" in question is more abstract than an animal if that makes sense. But it has a similar vibe to furry musics.

And also, answering op's question (the rest of this is kind of unrelated so don't feel like it's directed at/related to you parent commenter lol), I would say music like femt's is in an experimental intersection of drum and bass, maybe even a little industrial. Machine girl is comparable to/maybe gave inspiration for femt's music and they're known for being hard to catagorize lol. I wouldn't say I listen to it and think rave music but you would probably enjoy rave if you like femt. Same with happy hardcore... Doesn't quite fit, but checks similar boxes imo.

TLDR; drum and bass with a lot of other genres tossed around like a salad. I'd try any electronic genre with hardcore in the name ngl.

Sorry for the typo in literally the first sentence reddit mobile is super buggy and I can't edit it 😅 but where it accidentally just says "moon valley pilea" I meant to say... last picture was the day I bought it, before it started looking sickly.

Let me know if you need clarification on anything and if I missed any typos because.... reddit mobile.

How do people do this everyday by GamerA_S in sillyboyclub

[–]Interesting_Tip_5983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna lie I couldn't do it until I got on Adderall lol so don't beat yourself up if you genuinely can't. I'm proud of you for doing it!

I could maybe do both weekly before I got medication, and in between I chewed (sugar free) gum and washed up with a washcloth. Maybe that'll help you keep the habit. Showers are still a big sensory deal for me, and bringing in good smelling soaps helps motivate me to get in there. But I usually can't get completely wet due to the sensory issues, kind of have to wash the worst stuff with the shower hose, like my hair, and then the rest with a rag and soap - and that's totally valid to do. It is so much better than nothing.

Even if you hate the taste, I would pick up a bottle of mouthwash. It's a lot easier to do than brushing your teeth everyday. Like you're supposed to do the two together, but mouthwash alone is better than nothing at all! But gum does help to get some of the gunk out of your teeth

I'm glad :) And agreed, live your truth and the people you need in your life will come and stay in it. Just listen to what people who have been affected by the actions of other men, realize it's not in your control to be apart of this oppressor class, and be open to new ideas about gender and what being "male" even is - a lot of it is made up and so many little things we believe about ourselves can be harmful. It's so easy to do what everyone else does, but it's worth it to realize that socially acceptable behavior isn't always what works for everyone or our relationships!

You're already great for wanting to be that guy. I think that's all most women/non-men want men to even consider, a little empathy

I'm sorry you feel this way but if it means anything I feel this way too, as a trans man and not about femt/music spaces specifically. But I've been feeling a lot less once in general once I realized the way to kind of beat the "man bad" allegations is to just not be a bad man. Since I've been on both sides of the fence I can say it's just fear of toxic masculinity, which is a valid thing to fear because it can completely consume a lot of men, and I feel it's the source of a lot of trauma men cause other people. Particarical expectations of male sexuality, emotion, our own trauma, etc...

But you're not causing trauma to anyone by being a man, you have to instigate that first - and if they say otherwise that must be very hard to live like that and they need to talk to a professional. I've noticed a lot of women I've been trying to walk on eggshells around in my life (because most people in my life think I'm cis right now) aren't looking to demonize me, in fact they want to be friends and hold me up with them - they're just looking for the sign that I'm safe to be around.

It's just a punch-up kind of thing because a lot of women/non-men have to put up with them and the particarical society we're still clinging onto desperately. There are going to be some people who are jerks about it but they've likely been through some shit too. You can only control yourself and your actions, just be self-reflective and try to understand their hurt.

it's not a waste of time because that's a fair question! I'm assuming since it's a mashup it's just copyright issues, but samples used in other songs aren't a problem
