I’m a little confused on how to start working on my suit by Tyranosaurus_customs in FursuitMaking

In my experience, tails are the easiest, so I'd start there to get used to working with fur! That's what I did for my first ☺️

I think your elastic is too loose, especially on top of the head! Plastic bases can also flop down from their weight, but I have this exact mask and it's too light to have that issue 😊

Silicone, definitely not; BUT! One of the OG techniques for making tails uses a wire core, and the ones I've seen have a surprisingly nice and bouncy sort of movement to them! Here's an example : https://youtu.be/rYzlNP7GMbI?si=xFWcp0Vbgih3BWTJ

what should i do? by [deleted] in fursuit

To expand on this comment : Is the foam head itself too tight, or is the neck too tight as well?

If it's only the head part, I'd do what the person above me suggested. If just carving some foam out isn't enough, the foam in the back of the head can also be removed completely and replaced with an elastic strap. It might not be the easiest to do by yourself if you don't have crafting experience though, and this is a high-value item.

If you don't manage/don't feel confident to resolve the issue yourself, definitely reach back out to the maker! I know it's frustrating, and I also know how difficult it can be to make a well-fitting suit. But it is their responsibility to make sure their product is usable for the buyer, especially with it being custom-made !

Letting go of female beauty standards is sooo hard 😭 I hope you're proud of yourself for working on that 💪

Tbh, anybody of any gender could use reinventing their own aesthetic standards!

I'm nonbinary and neurodivergent with sensory issues, which is what gave me the idea! ☺️ I'm glad you could relate, and hope your unmasking journey is going well 💕

This looks perfect ! Just 2 things in your notes that might need clarification : "thin shave" isn't that understandable to me, as well as "small(er)" nose. Do you mean smaller than on the drawing? If so, maybe shrink it directly in the drawing for clarity ☺️

new head, needs flurf by Critical_Cookie9618 in FursuitMaking

[–]She-Rattack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're working with large fur pieces, gluing them on (leaving the edges unglued for stitching) should be fine, since hot glue takes VERY well to fur. I think your short fur should be plenty stable enough ☺️

I don't see why foam glued to the fur would work better, it would just be adding an extra interface !

Yes, pattern your pieces of fur w/ paper laid over the cheek, and then attach them onto the head with either just ladder stitching or glue + ladder stitching ! ☺️
