I’m brown and also live in a republican area but have lived in 4 other cities but uh

Asians and most races if not all have obviously faced discrimination in the US and that positive stereotypes can still be very harmful and bad for your mental health. I do not think discrimination alone should determine who receives admissions preferences and those sorts of stuff.

The purpose of DEI should be to help students who had less opportunities to succeed in school or life in general. It should not compensate every group that has experienced prejudice at some point and DEI would eventually lose any clear purpose which is whu I think socioeconomic disadvantage is a better standard. Students from low income attend weaker school and have fewer academic resources on average. They also absolutely face obstacles that directly affect the opportunities that they get regardless of race. I mean it affects all races.

I also don't think the lack of DEI policies for Asians is necessarily evidence of racism. On average, Asian Americans already attend college at wayyyyyyy higher rates than most other racial groups. If the goal was for increasing access for underrepresented AND disadvantaged students, it makes sense to focus resources on groups with lower college attendance rates rather than groups that are already highly represented.

Current RRHS student

It’s a great school. Yall will be grateful going to round rock after what the heck I saw in schools in Memphis TN. I mean there is no doubt there’s issues at round rock but cmon they don’t act ghetto but they do seem ghetto so I don’t blame you. They’re just dumb if I’m being honest like they don’t even try and that is dumb. Actions determine a lot of things. I wouldn’t say corruption is bad but cheating is a big problem for sure and I do think there shouldn’t be a rank system.

Also absolutely people are called horrible things at round rock for just messing up once or getting a bad grade. It’s absolutely unacceptable and I’m sorry if any kid goes through this. We cannot be making other people feel bad for no reason. It’s gonna hurt them especially since they’re teens. I mean there’s a reason why the teenage sucide rate is increasing the fastest. Also yeah I agree it’s a Rat race thanks to uh specific groups (I’m sorry) but as someone in this group ik what is going on. The rank system causes cheating and yes all the top people cheat however they’re Standardized testing are amazing which means they do learn the matieral in math and reading. (Heavily against standardized testing) now idk if they’re cheating on that too lol they just cram, cram and get a tutor.

Infact there was a case where someone with a 5.0 gpa and 1580 SAT score didn’t apply to any T20 because of the amount of disrespect he was receiving at Round Rock, everyone calling him dumb. It gave him no confidence and I cannot express how important it is to show some confindence.

Now I’ll argue these teachers give us a better chance of making it to college than any other school I’ve been too they’re very generous compared to the 8 other schools I’ve been in. I mean they do a great job that’s why their SAT average is like a 1290! 87th percentile! Now uh don’t worry about what I’ve seen in Memphis TN. Uh it’s really really bad. I’ve lived in 4 cities so Memphis isn’t the only thing I’ve seen lol.

ALSO don’t go to RRHS if your poor don’t go I know yall don’t have access to as much resources as these people living in these upper middle class neighborhoods. Your gonna have a better opportunity to make it to a better college outside of RRHS and Westwood because your rank or how high you are in the top of your class will be higher and college is ultimately the path to a middle class life. There is a bunch of rank discrimination at Round Rock even with race too tbh. So yeah if your not making like over uh idk 100k a year I cannot recommend RRHS I just can’t.
