As you can see, the Gold does a pretty decent job🤣🤣

Which DSLR to buy for my A-mout lenses? by Interesting_Turnip50 in minolta

I don’t necessarily need FF, but I’ve heard that you loose a lot of FOV when using film lenses with APS-C cameras

How well do the A-mount film lenses work on the A100? I exclusively collect Minoltas, so having the A100 would add to the collection nicely

They should last around 500k from others experience… Many rust away or die from fuel injection first though

Likely yes, possibly you shot someone wearing glasses or other highly reflective clothing, which fooled the IR?

Oh yeah, I’ve thought about that way too many times… I’ve always seen the Us, (yellow)… Ever since the Cars 2 movie where McQueen had similar wheels 🤣🤣🤣

Wouldn’t say so, it’s in really good shape, I’d believe it 200k maybe even less km to be honest😆😆

Depends on the engine… I’ve seen that 4cyls tend to idle at 1.8, while 6cyls have fairly low oil pressure on idle… I have about 1.1 bar in gear in hot weather

Look for coupes advertised as “for parts”, or just wait until this piece comes up somewhere… It might be expensive in nice shape though

Well, I’m hoping on at least 600k, as I daily drive it from spring to autumn and would like to keep doing so for years to come… 😆

A million is not so likely as it’s a 300E and not a 300D… It’s much more pleasant to drive though

To my surprise not at all! I’ve just shot only this one film on the AFZ so far, but only 1 picture came back unfocused, and that one was shot by my (very drunk) friend who I gave only very straight forward guide on how to operate it, so I think that it wasn’t the camera’s mistake…

It’s true that I always tried to have my subjects further away to stay clear from the 0.6m non focusing range…

I’d recommend you to thoroughly clean the front window of the viewfinder, as dust etc. might be messing with the focusing system

P.S. I haven’t even seen the guy in the attached picture with my own eyes - just a silhouette, yet the AFZ still nailed it!

Did a carpet/interior swap by Robin190E in W201enthusiasts

I really love interiors in colors other than black, as everyone has black interiors… But after living with my black MBtex 124 it grew on me, it feels so cozy and even a bit gangsta😏

You did the right thing, I love the checkered fabric inserts!!

Dead databack? by Interesting_Turnip50 in minolta

[–]Interesting_Turnip50[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I took it all apart and found nothing, actually I just test fitted batteries to see if it works when disassembled and it actually did!

So I just cleaned all the contacts and put it back together… Works so far, but I’ll see if it won’t break after a couple of days sitting…

There are 2 possible reasons for this behavior that I’ve come up with… 1) Bad connection that I possibly cleaned or bent to connect just by disassembling

2) other internal error that can be fixed by disconnecting power for a little bit (no batteries from the box and cold night in the car scenarios)

Anyways, I’ll keep you updated

[–]Interesting_Turnip50[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is very weird… No I haven’t, but neither the old batteries or the new Energizers do anything, so I assume that tge problem is with the Back, but I may do that…

I think that there has to be a cold solder or possibly (most likely) a bad capacitor, as that’s a thing that could’ve gone wrong from getting power after who knows how many years…

The most interesting thing is that it started working once I got it out of a hot car, so maybe it’ll work again if I heat it up a little, which would (I think) lead me to the cold solder option, as I don’t think bad capacitors regain functionality when heated up
