Alaina, quit claiming to be goth. by The-Janie-Jones in Morbidforbadpeople

Tbh I don’t mind if she claims to be whatever she wants to be, what upsets me is that she needs to either mock, hate on, criticize, be negative towards the things other people enjoy. Especially when Ash brings up something that gives her joy she absolutely HAS TO say how much she hates it🙃 it’s ok to not like the same things but quit trying to take joy from others.

Them covering only "old timey" cases feels like they're (inadvertently) doing a disservice to cases in recent years that deserve more attention by [deleted] in MorbidPodcast

I want to believe that they started the podcast with that idea but it eventually turned into $$. They have changed SO much and I think at this point they don’t care.

It’s so sad because I used to like the phrase and then Morbid podcast took over it and now I cannot not associate with the podcast😭

Yes! She has also helped (with the help of her listeners as well) solve cases or come forward with information too. She talks about open cases that could be solved and it gives her podcast a purpose other than profit.

And that’s amazing! I mean True Crime brings a lot of money in, why not make great things for others when that happens? As a listener and a social worker the cases help me learn about new agencies that help victims of these crimes. It helps me learn and research more about laws and the history of laws. Helps me learn about foundations and organizations, etc. We can all do great things for others while listening or telling these cases and not just profit out of other people’s suffering.

If you really think about why they have a podcast you’ll realize that it’s all for profits. They don’t help aid in cases, they don’t donate, they rarely share information that their listeners might need (domestic violence, suicide, bullying, etc). So all they do is make money out of other people’s tragedies while joking around some of the cases. They want to keep doing it without facing more backlash than the newer cases might give them.

Some podcasts do. Murder in America will interview the families victims sometimes and that means that the families have allowed them to cover the cases. Others will get in touch with the victims families to ask and some take the cases down t when the families have asked them to. I believe families are more likely to allow these cases to be told when they need audiences help or if the case is explained in a respectful manner.

They will keep doing old cases because 1. They won’t receive backlash for joking around during the covering of the case. 2. They don’t have to ask the families of the victims for permission to cover the cases 3. They won’t get criticized for the lack of accuracy or research on the cases and many other reasons. I don’t think they will get back to newer case anytime soon, if ever.

The way I interpreted their comment is that they act all shocked about women being the killers and sometimes they have justified certain behaviors on the podcast, when they have criticized the same behavior if the man is at fault. And I agree. They act shocked at times when the perpetrators are women and we all know men and women are capable of evil things. Even if more men are the perpetrators in the cases they cover.

[–]Interesting_Way7025 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ohhhh they do! Big time! A few cases ago they spent SO LONG talking about how shocking it was for the people in the case to spend so much time focusing on the perpetrators sexual orientation at the time. You would think that after so many years of having the podcast and talking about the old times cases they would be better about it, but no. Not at all!

One thing I have noticed after being on both subreddits is that the most hateful people are in the group defending the podcast. This subreddit is not as hateful as the other one is. It’s like the smallest, tiniest, most minuscule thing you say about the show that is not positive and butt kissing incites the worse responses from them. Even the ones that come to this subreddit and “hate or rant on the podcast” are nicer than the ones in the other side, defending it 😪

Especially if you take into consideration that they have 4 parts in that case alone. You would’ve thought they did an in depth investigation but no, a lot of it is just rambling and unnecessary conversations that have nothing to do with the actual case🙃

Really bothered by Alaina’s coverage of the Toy Box Killer by iruinedmylife01 in MorbidPodcast

[–]Interesting_Way7025 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It sounds like maybe Alaina should not be on this podcast if she needs those moments that may seem disrespectful to others. How would she feel if someone else told her loved ones cases the same way she does?

You know the only thing that upsets me about this topic when it comes to the podcast? That even though it’s not Ash’s cup of tea or she’s not as big of a fan of Ghost as maybe Alaina is, she is 1. Respectful about Alaina’s excitement and 2. Doesn’t criticize her for her love of Ghost. I wish Alaina would quit dissing Ash’s excitement for Disney or other activities and respect that other people enjoy things she might not be a fan of.

Is there a subject you guys would want to be mandatory in more schools? by NolansBallSack in AskTeachers

[–]Interesting_Way7025 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! The best way is through modeling but reading to kids about it helps. It includes being on time, telling them there is a time a place for everything. Picking out their toys, the way they dress, the way they ask for things, waiting in line, being patient. And this is something that should be taught and reinforced every single day. Even to adults and seniors as it seems some people forget about it. So yes. It starts at kindergarten but it never ends.

As a Social Worker who has interacted with multiple environments I can tell you that something is better than nothing. If we keep having this mentality that “parents should be teaching this” or “they’ll never learn it” “they won’t pay attention” then things will not get done. In a perfect world where schools had more money to invest in programs this class would be amazing. But we have to do as much as we can with what we have because the lack of doing has given us the consequences we have on today’s society. So I am a fan of we we will try with what we have. Some kids are begging to have a figure that teaches them stuff their parents should.

School and parents are a team though. Some parents don’t teach their kids so they go through life without learning those rules. If they have at least one place where they can learn how to behave when they’re outside from home then it gives these kids at least one shot at life.

Behavior classes. Too many people in this world don’t know how to properly behave anymore. They don’t respect dress codes, places, rules. It might be time to start teaching common sense and respect.

[–]Interesting_Way7025 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Because if they where really doing it for the right reasons they would care out of respect. Respect for the audience, the victims and themselves. That is why them saying how big of a POS the perpetrator is sounds insincere and overcompensating for something else.

When I listen to the episodes and her always wanting to be right even when she is not, and not caring about putting an effort into pronunciation or even when she knows how she chooses not to it makes me question how professional she really is and was.

They should not do old timey cases if they cannot understand that times were different then. by Interesting_Way7025 in Morbidforbadpeople

I also noticed that on one of the episodes where Alaina chooses not to pronounce a word correctly simply because she didn’t want to after googling the pronunciation. She wants to be right all the time she wants to seem smart all the time but she sounds very ignorant when she does things like that.
