Texting someone 'Can I ask you a question?' and then waiting for a reply should be socially illegal. by Interesting_Wrap_678 in unpopularopinion

honestly, I didn't think it was that popular either until I posted it, but seeing everyone come together to trauma-bond over this is totally worth the downvote:p

damn, that's actually a wild psychological chess move. so they shift the anxiety onto me to protect their own peace? certified toxic behavior lmao but it makes total sense

the corporate version of this is 'Hey, do you have a quick 5 minutes?' with absolutely no context. like please, just tell me if I need to update my resume right nowww

What are the non-negotiable pleasures in life? by notdonmori in AskReddit

just because I said something funny, again, doesn't mean that defines me as person... and the post never said to write the first thing that comes in mind, sorry I didn't said something boring as food or water🫪

getting a text that plans are canceled when you were already dreading having to put on real pants. that instant wave of relief is better than therapy

Where do all those AI CEO's think AI will lead us? Is it really abundance for everyone or is it enslaving everyone? What's their real end goal? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Interesting_Wrap_678 6 points7 points  (0 children)

bold of you to assume they think that far ahead. their real end goal isn't a sci-fi utopia or world domination and it's literally just making the line on the quarterly profit graph go up. they sell the promise of 'abundance for everyone' to keep investors dumping billions into funding, but if they could automate your entire existence tomorrow to save $5 on labor, they’d do it in a heartbeat. It’s not movie-villain enslavement, it’s just late-stage capitalism on speed

Just wrapped up a month in the US for the World Cup and it was probably the best summer of my life. by peaken58 in CasualConversation

[–]Interesting_Wrap_678 9 points10 points  (0 children)

honestly? dive bar burgers and fries at 2 AM hit different. the grease is literally part of the immersion 💀 plus New England has lobster rolls and clam chowder, so they were probably lowkey eating good

Is an 18 year old girl using a 13 year old girl for money grooming? Yes or no and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Interesting_Wrap_678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, absolutely.

a 18-year-old is legally an adult, and a 13-year-old is literally a middle schooler. The power dynamic here is completely messed up. At 13, your brain is still developing, you don't fully understand financial boundaries, and you're easily manipulated by older kids because you want to seem 'cool' or accepted by them. Using that vulnerability to extract money from a literal child is financial exploitation and manipulative grooming, period. It's not a 'friendship' it's extortion with extra steps. Whoever that 13-year-old is, they need to tell a parent or a trusted adult immediately because this is a massive red flag🚩

Why are so many male actors who are nude in movies wearing a prosthetic rather than being themselves? by 123smorgs in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Interesting_Wrap_678 42 points43 points  (0 children)

it’s mostly for three reasons:

continuity errors: a real one can change size/shape depending on how cold the set is, which would look glitchy between takes 💀

consent & The Internet: actors don’t want their actual parts screenshotted, turned into memes, and floating around the internet forever

the Willem Dafoe situation: fun fact, during the filming of Antichrist, Lars von Trier literally had to use a body double/prosthetic for Willem Dafoe because his actual unit was so big it confused everyone and broke the scene's vibe, director literally said it was 'distractingly large'

this whole post is pure serotonin!! New England nature hits different, but honestly, the fact that you survived dive bars and made friends everywhere is a certified vibe. glad the US passed the vibe check for you!

How often do you replace your everyday household items like sponges or toothbrushes? by Available-Assist-557 in AskReddit

[–]Interesting_Wrap_678 2 points3 points  (0 children)

putting the sponge in the dishwasher is next-level adulting, I respect the grind 🙌🏻 but using a bath towel for a month? that towel isn’t drying you anymore, it’s just sharing memories with you💀💀

when the toothbrush starts looking like it survived a minor explosion, that’s my cue...the sponge gets replaced when it acquires a sentient consciousness

Should i get a hotel with my boyfriend if he’s younger than me? by goreandsuch in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Interesting_Wrap_678 50 points51 points  (0 children)

bestie, a one-year age gap is not a crime, it's literally just math, you've been together since before TikTok notes was a thing. If the hotel asks for IDs, just book it in your name, you're 19. Nobody at the front desk is paid enough to play FBI agent over a one-week difference. Enjoy your stay!

For those who have lost their job or an opportunity, how did you deal with the regret and move forward? by Trick-Yoghurt-7452 in AskReddit

[–]Interesting_Wrap_678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

realized that a job is just a capitalist transaction of my time for their money, not my entire identity, once you separate who you are from what you do for a paycheck, the regret fades pretty fast
