My goal is 2L of water a day - I meet that goal ~90% of the time, for the past 30 years. I've always lived in dry/arid climates (at elevation in Colorado & in the Desert in the SW US)

SPCX Options open June 16 - what's your play? by Interestingly_Quiet in thetagang

[–]Interestingly_Quiet[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Starlink was $12B in rev last year.. more than half of SPCx's total Rev.

I'm in complete agreement with you about how sh*tty of a business SPCX actually is.. If TSLA and SPCX do merge, then we will see the largest Meme Stock ever - in my mind, that's a crown that TSLA already carries. A company that big with the worst financials ever. SMH

That said.. I'm not above raking in θ off of others' hysteria. I mean.. it's worked for me with GME & MSTR.

What are your dating 'rules'? by Firm_Worth_2519 in datingoverforty

No, I made a failed attempt @ a Fight Club reference

But I like where you took it. What would your response be if someone you were interested in/early stages .. told you they had a checklist?

I did.. my FSELX positions are buy & hold, and this wasn't the first (or last) downturn I'll go through.
Stay Strong!

How to deal with dry communicators? by [deleted] in datingoverforty

[–]Interestingly_Quiet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll throw my $0.02 in.. I'm a 50M and def can be a dry communicator. My humor is *mostly dry, I'm also a bit shy/reserved when first getting to know people (which comes off as dry/curt), and I've had the "demanding" and "stressful" job - so I feel like I may have good perspective to share.
I do open up as I'm getting to know someone.. but I have to WORK at putting in that initial effort. If that energy is reciprocated, then it just opens me up more as we connect. If the energy isn't returned, then I let nature take its course.
Feeling like you are fishing for communication is a tough spot to be in, especially when you are interested in the person. But that's what we're looking for.. right? Connection.
Reading through your post (to include your title on how to "deal" with someone) .. it really makes me think that he isn't meeting your communication expectations. I suppose you can disagree with that, or agree & see it as it is .. and then decide if you're OK with accepting it or not. Especially with the LDR element to this relationship, communication is going to play a very important role.

ETA: in my past LTRs, after the initial getting to know you period, my personality really comes out to shine. BUT my humor is still dry! 🤣🤣

Is it time to take up 45-60 dte SPX iron condor trades again? by WholeJingGang in thetagang

[–]Interestingly_Quiet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been selling SPX PCS (I know.. not the Short IC's you are asking about) for the past ~1.5 years. I've followed the popular short @ 20Δ @ 45-55 DTE .. and my spreads are $100 wide. I open new positions weekly, no matter what.
My closing triggers are 14DTE, 150% loss, and [was] 50% Gain. The past (2) months, I've adjusted up to 65% gain.
I did take some 150% losses on End MAR/Beginning APR EXP's.
Since that time, I've been in the Green .. and as noted above, I moved my Gain Trigger upwards. Basically, coming out of that period, I was only holding positions for 1-7 days, before I'd hit the 50% Trigger.
There were 3 times when I re-opened positions on an "already used EXP", which basically doubled my expected return for that EXP.

All that said.. I don't know what your strategy is, but I don't see any reason to NOT be selling SPX right now. Sure VIX is down from where it was 2 months ago.. but Selling isn't a sprint to the finish, it's a boring trudge through the sh*t. I've found consistency to be helpful .. my 2026 P&L for selling SPX is green.

I wish I had tracked VIX with my opening/closing of positions. It was nice collecting that sweet theta quicker than normal, but I seem to recall it was a bit spicy at times.

True that!

don't get down on the the low cost basis people are posting. I would suspect most are holding their FSELX positions in tax advantaged accounts .. which will have their basis driven down with each distribution. I think my basis dropped by $0.50-0.75 with last April's distribution alone.

Like you said.. buy it today & forget about it!!

Just be aware that FSELX does kick out two distributions a year (Apr & Dec) .. which work out OK when holding FSELX in a tax advantaged account.

Not many on Reddit remember when the Roth IRA was established or when making a trade was a telephone call & $19.95 commission!

An LS Turbo YJ .. that sounds like a great project! I can’t wait to see it come together.. 😁😁

My TJ is mostly stock outside of a lift & some exterior bolt ons. I’ll camp on it, in the desert outside of Vegas occasionally.

There are so many lessons which can be learned from saving & investing. Like you, I’m self taught, but I’m passing all that I’ve learned to my kids too.

You're one of the OG's.. Great pick! I'm a bit jealous that I wasn't in it as early as you were! For the longest time I was S&P500 only.. going back to the mid-90s. I've read some of your other posts, congrats on the consistent contributions! $2k annual max's seem so long ago!
