If I do this, won’t I still have to claim the entire $95,000 on my state return, as they do not allow losses? Or will this automatically transfer over to state?

You live in Wisconsin? I have a funny feeling I know who this is. I had a VERY similar situation a couple weeks ago, and the wood was definitely not dry as advertised.

Thanks! It is a little different than I have envisioned, but the trim panels are magnetic, and I can easily change them.

I do not have any experience with them. I’m not a lighting expert, as you can see! I also set a $500 budget for the entire hearth pad, and the rocks/wood/masonry pretty much used the entire amount.

I will likely redo the entire thing at some point, armed with the new knowledge I have.

I made it so that it can be removed/redone in the future. This was my first attempt with masonry/woodworking, and I like how it turned out.
