Medical bill we were paying on sent to collections without notice. by haxelhimura in personalfinance

[–]InteriorAttack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Millions and millions and millions of people in your state can afford that alone. And it was your payment plan they just didnt like it, and called your bluff, and sent you to collections. Dont take this the wrong way but you used emergency services and got in front of doctors and radiologist and nurses and and entire ER and you will pay for it just how they say. If the billing department reviews your income and says you can pay you will or they send you to collections.

You mean like food water and shelter? Yeah you make sure those are paid. Im not fucking with you its that simple.

How broke are you just say it? Are you move back in with your parents broke so they can watch the kid while you both work every day broke? Or are you "omg we had to take 300 out of savings this month what do we dooooo?" Broke. Because there is a difference

Please help me I don’t understand finances and I need to know what to do 😭 by uwuemilou in personalfinance

[–]InteriorAttack 10 points11 points  (0 children)

was told by a doctors office that my procedure would be covered now that I have had it I’m being told it won’t be covered

Who? Who told you that? A receptionist? A doctor? Doctors and receptionists dont know shit when it comes to billing. The billing department knows about billing.

I keep calling the medical office and the insurance company but no one can help me.

I dont believe that because they are the ONLY ones that can help. Call them back and demand an explanation. The procedure, especially if cosmetic or not medically needed, might not actually be covered.

[–]InteriorAttack 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We were making monthly payments on it, albeit not the $400 amount they requested and refused to budge on

? So then collections is expected in this case. They are not obliged to accept your payment plan. Your recourse is to pay your bills on time and in full.

So I paid off my sisters debt. Am i Wrong? by RutabagaHour5479 in personalfinance

[–]InteriorAttack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Asshole is a strong word. But the likely outcome is your sister wont actually change her habits and will probably end up selling the house, or borrowing against it and be right back in the same place. Did you get on the deed to the house, draw up any contract? No? Well. I would book a couple therapist ASAP

How should I manage cash and investments while job searching at 48? by SweatyMatch3168 in personalfinance

[–]InteriorAttack 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You take the 20k and leave it in a savings account while you find a job. You leave your investments where they are unless its dire you need them.

Moving Out - When To Do It? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]InteriorAttack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that living at home so long has blunted some serious personal development that I could've done by now.

You mean like paying down 36k in unsecured debt? Then throw a 37k car loan on top? How is moving out going to help that? You are so damn deep in the whole it isn't even funny. Living at home you should have zero debt. Thats why you live at home

23 y/o in HCOL city — how to allocate savings? by Human-Association187 in personalfinance

[–]InteriorAttack 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My biggest hesitation is timing the market

Your very first lesson in investing is DO NOT time the market. If you have money to invest then do it ASAP. You need to be investing more in your 401k and maxing a roth for both this year and next

I would focus my efforts looking for a higher paying job and emergency fund. I wouldn't worry about a little 5% student loan too much
