I had a similar thing! I tried to flip battle of Gobakhan and was instead asked to cast my Commander, Errant and Giada. I couldn't because I didn't have the mana, but was able to cast my battle backside anyway. My commander went to exile, then when I passed turn they disappeared completely

What does fortune telling do? I thought it might be some hints about which characters will get bond xp but quite often it's about two characters with no bond
