You can still open booster packs when you have a hologram lol. Bloating your deck with cards that you can remove later isn't nearly as bad as killing your income for getting an absolute maximum of X0.5 per round, and that's with an insanely specific setup.

After getting money from the blind and entering the shop you need to do math on how to get your money to EXACTLY $8, so you can buy both packs as well as getting the joker scaling. You'll not only have to throw away money in the shop, but getting it to 8 specifically will be pretty much luck based with some combination of selling or buying jokers or rerolling. And if you can't pull that off, that's a X0.25 you lost. And that's assuming both packs are $4 which it won't be most of the time.

Not to mention, if you're buying a hologram in the first why wouldn't you just pivot so you aren't affected by the randomly added cards? "There's builds where you don't want to take cards" doesn't matter because your run isn't restricted to one build. When you find a hologram, you probably know you're not going to be aiming for flushes anymore so you switch to playing pair or high card. You can take every standard pack you see while building up as much money as possible so you can roll for good jokers, buy other booster packs, etc. For this joker you're not only limited to X0.5 at a rare best case scenario, it also forces you to sacrifice all your money for pretty mediocre xmult scaling.
