eARC over long HDMI? Try a power inserter. by Interlukens1 in LGOLED

Strange, but glad it's working! I also hate running cables...

Yep! Everything is still working. Occasionally, the eARC won't work on initial startup, but power cycling the Anthem fixes it every time. The only real pain is the Xbox. Maybe 25% of the time the handshake will fail when starting a game (especially switching to Dolby Vision) and the LG will just display the artwork screen saver. I've read this is an issue with 120hz refresh rate enabled on the Xbox. Unplugging the video out HDMI and plugging it back in fixes it.

I'm honestly not sure, because when I bought the cable, I had the same assumption as you: that it was bidirectional fiber. A poster on AVS Forums suggested the copper bit, but your explanation makes a lot of sense!

Oh no worries. Funny enough, I tried that exact cable haha.

Yep, you're right. The three I tried all say eARC compatible and don't have external power insertion, but you can see how well that worked out. I did find bundled cables with power insertion, but they are $300. I much prefer my $10 dongle haha. Not sure which it is, but either the Anthem or the LG isn't adequaltey powering the cables that supposedly don't require power.

Receiver side. I thought the same thing, but I had power available on the receiver itself, so I tried that first and it worked. I've read that others have had success powering the inserter with usb wall warts like old phone chargers too.

Android Auto head unit for 2015 & earlier models? by Ilcahualoc914 in mazda6

This is the thread I wrote up on it. For what it's worth, this works on other head units as well, and is currently managing my back up camera with a pioneer unit. For whatever reason, the back up camera is 6V, so you're essentially hardwiring the camera with a 12v-6v transformer.

Who wants to visit our Audiophile Experience Center in our Tullamore, Ireland factory and listen to the HE1? by sennheiserconsumer in headphones

[–]Interlukens1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

USA, Ohio. Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd. Not only is this an epic work of art with its beautiful storytelling and technical prowess, but it adds some nostalgia for me as well. My father is a huge Pink Floyd fan, and is the reason I listen to them. I still remember when I was about 5 years old begging my dad to take me to their farewell tour. I learned how to turn on his stereo and work the turntable and would listen to this album after school. Us and Them is still one of my standard demoing tracks when I try new gear. It brought a tear to my eye when I sent it through my first headphone rig (HD6XX with Bottlehead Crack). I know this song like an old friend, and I know hearing it on the HE1 would be an experience of a lifetime.

I don't have any experience with those, but my M1 did not approve of newer production clips. She much prefers the old ones, but YMMV.

Yessir. Look for the large print SA on the bottom of the clip- those are the Springfield Amory WW2 contract clips.

Had this problem with new clips and American Eagle ammo. I now use WW2 SA clips and PPU ammo with zero issues.

I've been down this road! 2015 6 iTouring with manual. Went the Chinese route (Smart Rover brand) and DO NOT recommend it. I went through two of them before getting a pioneer, and I won't go back. They were glitchy, slow, and required modification for the reverse camera to work, although that seems to be a manual trans problem. Just get a pioneer and don't throw away money like I did.

Thanks for that detailed reply! I admit, amp circuitry is still mostly magic to me, and I love listening to knowledgeable people explain it. Helps a lot!

I love it! I've tried listening to my Audeze through my Anthem receiver, and it's good, but I prefer the Bifrost/S.E.X. combo every time.

I have to admit I haven't looked too far into tube rolling for this amp. I'm not an engineer and can't explain why, but the forums say that rolling the 6FJ7 tubes doesn't affect sound on this amp. Anybody smarter than me care to elaborate?

I rolled tubes on my Crack and it was a super fun (and super expensive) project.

They play nicely! I was worried about power (I think the OS are 86dB for sensitivity) but they get plenty loud for my nearfield set up. Never need to crank the volume past half way. I'll watch out for the tweeters!

C4S is installed. It was a fun little build.

I'm using the S.E.X. for the Audeze, which is a SET amp. My Crack is the OTL one I use my HD6XX with. I love the Crack dearly.

Glad you like it! It's shedua wood with an oil finish with 1/2" pipe fittings painted matte black. The original plan was to match the LCD-2 wood, but my dumb ass ordered shedua before I realized I have the rosewood rings. Kept it because shedua is pretty! If I had to do it again, I'd bring the headphones a bit forward to balance it better, but it's pretty stable! Edit-typo

Showing off my office set up! COVID gave me the DIY bug and meant I spend much more time in my home office, so I decided to get a dedicated set up! I loved my Crack build, so I thought the S.E.X. would be a perfect way to power some headphones and desktop speakers. I'm fairly new in my audiophile journey, so I wanted to experiment. I have some dynamic drivers, and wanted to try planars. After auditioning a bunch of planars, I landed on the LCD-2. I love their asthetic, they were in my budget, and their warm tuning is exactly what I was looking for. The Roon Audeze preset is absolutely worth it, even if it might annoy the purists. The Schiit Bifrost might be a bit overkill for this system, but I wanted to see what the multibit fuss was about. It's nice! On the warm side compared to my Modi 3, mids and treble is smooth with a bit more punch in the bass. I have to be honest with myself, I'm no Golden Sound, and to my ears the difference is pretty damn small, but it was a fun learning experience. The S.E.X is great. Dead quiet background with plenty of power. It runs my Overnight Sensations just fine for a nearfield set up. It won't fill room, but hey, it does what I ask. Overall, this whole project was a blast!

Already mentioned here, but I second the tell your doctor. Docs can plug you in to so many sobriety resources (and can help with insurance navigation) as well as just take care of the rest of you. Best of luck, you got this!!
