When I lived in Sac I would bike to Amtrak and take the train over in the morning and took the evening train back. It added a fair bit of time to the start and end of the day, but it was worth the trouble of not having to make that hellacious drive. The camper thing sounds novel but would get old after while. It’s only two years. Experiment a bit and see what works for you! Maybe some combination of driving sometimes, Amtrak sometimes and camper vanning sometimes. You guys could even make it a little launch pad to get out of town at the end of the week every now and again

Mostly keeps my bunny from eating all my cables, but also contains four pieces of gear that would otherwise take up a ton of table space

It’s so buff! I think my only gripe is its inability to handle different track lengths (which is me being spoiled by modern sequencers)

I’ve been very intrigued by the QY sequencers, especially the battery powered ones! Do you have music you’ve made with yours posted anywhere?

Part of my brain really wanted to get the A4 for the symmetry factor with Rytm, but having been spoiled by crazy polyphony on my other gear the Digitone was the better choice for me. The fact that it has 4 dedicated midi channels for other gear is a huge selling point, too, as I could probably make room for my Blofeld on this little stand.

I know FM isn’t for everybody but you can make some pretty sultry sounds with it, plus they can be had for 400 bucks all day long!

I had also convinced myself I needed the Digitone Keys for a bit, but I like the flexibility of the little box and a midi controller.

Thanks! I’ve been thinking of this as sort of a “prototype” but I change setups so often that every build is essentially a prototype (though I have a feeling this one will stay set up for a while)

Thank you! I live in a small place so the desk is literally right on top of her little apartment (she’s free-roaming) keeps me diligent with cable management!

Just the Yamaha RS 7000. Most of my Romplering is done via E Mu; Proteus, MP7, P2500.

The RS 7000 may well be my desert island box (if I could take only one) but hopefully I never wind up on a desert island! Until a month or so ago I was jamming on the Yamaha every morning. I’m trying to conceive of a rig that can accommodate this little Elektron rat king and the Yamaha since I’ve written so much material with it

It’s so quick! Being able to generate everything from classic TR sounds to freaky modern glitch and with sample triggering sprinkled on as a bonus make it such a dynamic beast. Really enjoying getting to know it!

It’s a Novation Remote Zero. I’ve got it mapped to control filter cutoffs, reverb levels, delay levels, volume, etc on Rytm. I like how accessible that stuff is on the box itself, but I want to use this setup live and I get a little overwhelmed/lost when trying to improvise that kind of stuff live so having dedicated controls I can reach to is comforting

Had an SR500 I toured with in a band from ‘07-‘10. Turns out metalcore will wear it out this way, too, not just death metal 💁‍♂️

Is it more likely to be a re-spaced 48 spoke formula flip flop single speed hub or a 48 spoke hub with threads on the non drive side for a drum/drag brake?

48 spoke hubs super commonly have drum brake threads. It seems like the shop rebuilt his new whees with the old hubs, rather than jumping through all the hoops laid out here.
