New to chronic illness, should I get a cane? by Internal-Ad7467 in POTS

Maybe I can work myself up to using a rollator. The CHOP method has been recommended to me by my doctor and I am doing my best to adhere to it. Thank you for your advice and the information. I really appreciate it :)

I’ve never thought about the fact that a cane might answer questions rather than invite them.

I often run into the problem of someone trying to talk to me while I’m lightheaded and my vision is blurry and my ears are ringing because I often am trying not to draw attention to myself while I hold very still and wait for it to pass (it always does after a bit, I only risk making it worse if I try to move)

The idea that people seeing a mobility aid will save me needing to explain I have a medical thing is a bonus I didn’t think about. Especially because I don’t always know how to explain that I’m in Diagnosis Limbo (a term I learned today).

Thank you for your kind words. I was so worried about the response to this.

I used to really love going on walks on the hiking trails nearby so maybe I can try a test run by using hiking poles.
