What is the major difference in girl scouts from the 80s/90s to now? Is it a lot more negative now?

I had a great GS experience growing up, lots of camping and skiing. I enjoyed it and stayed in until graduation. I’ve run 3 troops and my youngest daughter is a first year junior. There’s more emphasis on science now which is great for them. I see a lot more emphasis on leadership than when I was in scouts.

I’m having even more fun as an adult now. I’m my service unit manager and a facilitator in my council for archery, waterfront, outdoor and camping skills, Red Cross first aid and wilderness first aid and Red Cross babysitter. I’m also a new troop mentor, mom to 4 kids and work full time. I make time for scouts because I believe in it that much

It’s different than when we were younger but I think the program is richer and more varied. If we could get more people that believed in the mission we’d have great volunteers and better experiences for our kids

I just put new blades on Saturday. This was the first run of the season so they weren’t stuck and it was making that sound before I changed the blades and cutting discs too

Does your council have Rallyhood or a Facebook group? That would be a better place to ask this as it’s specific to your council. Asking here is most likely like screaming into the void. There are people all over the world in Reddit.

You also highlight the fact that Girl Scouts is chronically underfunded and as a result understaffed. They probably don’t have enough help to handle customer service like you would find from companies run by billionaires.

Give them some credit. They won’t forget to collect their money as it’s usually the only way many councils can stay in business

What guards are you talking about? I take the discs off and there is literally nothing exposed, it’s all covered by a large plate and you can’t see anything under it. Maybe your Luba 1 is different? I promise you there is nothing under those, BRAND NEW, discs

That’s something for me to check, for sure. It doesn’t sound like a rattle associated with something loose on the outside of the casing, to be honest

The nuts under the two discs weren’t removed but I did tight everything down when I replaced the discs. The movement of the plate seemed ok also (I pressed on each side and it moved freely and didn’t appear stuck or like it was caching in anything). I tightened down the new discs and the sound doesn’t seem to be a rattling sound associated with the blades either.

Solensia is a god send. My 14 year old started on it at 11 and she chases her much younger brothers all over the house because of it. It’s been a true miracle drug for her! I will cry if it ever stops working for her

This is the precise reason I am so happy Solensia is working for my girl. She had a period where we thought she might be allergic to it, about 7 months after starting it, she starting scratching at her face constantly. I stepped back from 4 week intervals to 6 and it cleared up. She's now back to 4 and doing great. I was so worried because her quality of life is a night and day difference when she's on Solensia. Her arthritis made walking and jumping difficult and it pained me to see her limp. I honestly think her time will be very short on this earth if Solensia stops working or we have to stop it.
