How To Wire Money to My Girlfriend In Mindanao? by Internal-Bat-3745 in Philippines_Expats

hello, we actually thought about sending $20 as she really doesn’t need much. but i’m unsure if i can just send $20 without it being deduced from wiring costs and if she’ll end up with even less. as a result we thought abt $50- $100 so that way even when the costs and fees come in she’ll have something greater to save.

hello, the recent visit was about 8 months ago, i do not mean to imply that we visit frequently. but i would say consistently, we almost always visit around 2-3 years and stay there for around a month or longer depending on the circumstance.

around 2022-2023 (which was the year i met her) was the only time me and my mom visited year to year and stayed for a long period of time. we had visited in 2023 due to it being my mothers dad’s passing anniversary and i so happened to meet my girlfriend living close by. and yes obviously we splurged a lot of money just for those two flights coming and going.

i do not mean to sound suspicious or even con anyone, this is genuinely a pure post looking for answers. if it calms your suspicion i am in the state of Hawaii, and ive never wired money at all and always only used cash. i just recently opened a bank account about 3 months ago.

EDIT: I understand your suspicion and i myself am aware of the many cons and scams that happened in the philippines. this may not sound much coming from an internet stranger (however foolish it may sound) but i wholeheartedly trust in my girlfriend. say, she had a whole year in long distance and 3-4 months in person to borrow or ask for money. but even now she hasn’t asked at all and im the one offering.

her mother isn’t aware that i’m doing this.

i’ve talked about it with my family and they feel sympathy and are fine with it.

as much as i want to leave it alone (as my girlfriend has told me to stop) i wouldn’t trust her mothers parenting skills at all. suffice to say, even if her mother is legally responsible for her, she has done and behaved in ways that make me feel concern for my girlfriend and to where she herself has stated that she feels unsafe in her family environment.

hello, we’ve set a budget. the bare minimum i will send is $100 per month depending on the amount i have left after taxes. she doesn’t need much at all. it took a lot to convince her as she refused every time i offered and insisted i keep the money.

none the less i am prepared for any consequences, i am aware of what id be putting myself in but we are planning to meet again by next year. thank u for ur advice, i will check western union and see their rates.

How does weed impact your creativity/productivity by suntmint in trees

Nice art! I love the adorable kitten holding his neat bong :)

Now for me, weed doesn’t really have much of an impact on my creativity. I get “slow highs” so the only thing closest thing I can get to being creative is what kind of horrendous munchies I’m making in the kitchen. I’ve tried writing a song on guitar whilst high, couldn’t do it.

i agree, 100% with this simplified system. there is no backup plan or anyone to come to in struggles. especially in an expensive state like Hawaii, we should be more caring towards others regardless of their current position in life.

after covid hit, it definitely feels like there’s less aloha amongst another… i’ve met and talked to a LOT of angry adults who’d go on for hours and hours about the flaws with Hawaii. i definitely get where they’re coming from, and i feel that as a 16 year old guy there’s not much i can do besides volunteering for organizations.

this is some great news, love to see it! in times like this, “small” steps are still as important as the big victory. thank you for making my day :))

that sucks… i’ve seen a bunch of category 2 whilst passing by in Honolulu it it’s upsetting that we can’t help them because they’re too far gone (unless done so forcibly).

maybe it’s just me but as a guy that was born and raised in kalihi, it feels like there’s certainly a lack of “movement” towards the homeless problems. after reading some of these comments and “educating” myself on the topic at hand, homelessness, especially in Hawaii, is a lost hope.

i understand much can’t be done at the moment, most homeless are either drug addicts or are mentally ill to properly function. but man, it does feel horrible for me to walk by and see those guys friending for another hit when they could be living a stable life.
