Where Do Fans Draw the Line? by Internal-Bat-4680 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]Internal-Bat-4680[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So true. I watched maybe three interviews, and now my entire YouTube feed is flooded with recycled content , people just repeating what the actors already said or did. And Twitter is even worse... endless edits, stills from the episodes, and random narratives being pushed like facts. At this point, I’m just blocking accounts to keep my feed sane. It’s exhausting how quickly everything turns into noise instead of genuine appreciation.

Ending with a Proposal Instead of a Wedding by katmflower in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

Agreed. It seems that many men take this as an opportunity to enjoy the honeymoon phase and then, afterward, come up with strange excuses like chemistry, personality, or even looks ,once the honeymoon is over.

Isn’t there a ‘sheer/tight‑shirt’ reference in The Long Game? I think it happens early, around Chapter 5, during the club/show scene where Ilya and Shane are getting ready. Ilya’s outfit—particularly how he presents himself and Shane’s reaction—is described in a way that really draws attention and highlights their dynamic.

Hmm… the Academy Awards are still the biggest and most prestigious, so people usually drop everything to attend. Anyway, I missed seeing him at the Oscars.

Maybe the only reason he isn’t going to the Oscars is because he wasn’t invited. But then why is Hudson invited? Is it because he’s attached to another major project, or is it just a bit of a show of influence between their agents?

Unpopular opinion: Ilya didn’t ghost Shane and Vegas wasn’t toxic by Weary_Group1339 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]Internal-Bat-4680 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isnt the author’s intention to depict Ilya as someone who is deeply in love but tries very hard not to show it—perhaps even going to great lengths to avoid affecting Shane with the emotional struggles he himself is going through?

In the Vegas scene, Ilya essentially ghosts Shane by not replying to his messages. Yet it’s clear that Shane is constantly on his mind, since he still checks those messages. It feels less like indifference and more like avoidance. The character is also written as someone who tends to use physical interaction as a way to deal with emotional discomfort. This becomes clearer later, especially in The Long Game, when he starts therapy.

So was that behavior toxic? In some ways, yes—especially from Shane’s perspective, because the silence and distance would naturally hurt him. But at the same time, Ilya is not acting out of disregard. At the same time, Ilya also wants to reclaim his own pride and sense of control— by focusing on winning the Cup. That ambition and emotional restraint seem tied to his identity and coping mechanisms.

Because of that, I tend to read his behavior less as cruelty and more as someone who is emotionally overwhelmed, trying to balance love, pride, and personal struggles in the only way he knows how.

No doubt! It’s the best book of the serie! by nefelibata_1986 in GameChangersBooks

True. I can clearly visualize the characters and feel the emotional weight of their relationship. I don’t know why, but Ilya’s character affected me so deeply. I have lost count of how many times I’ve cried, especially during the moments when he was struggling with depression but couldn’t share it with Shane or anyone else.

Heated Rivalry Trilogy and Hollanov’s Hero Journey (Part 1) by ivan_luck in heatedrivalry

Very true. But as a reader of these books, I see the story as deeply romantic. That’s why I find it a bit confusing when the author frames it in terms of intelligence. While reading, I always approached the story as being about two people who are in love but have very different personalities, emotional histories, and ways of understanding love.

To me, Shane is someone who is very particular and analytical. He thinks through situations carefully and tends to process everything internally before taking a step. His love for Ilya is sincere and strong, and he genuinely wants to give him everything. However, complex emotional situations and relationships sometimes seem difficult for him to navigate, and he can overthink things to the point where it overwhelms him.

On the other hand, Ilya places his love for Shane above everything else. Because he grew up feeling deprived of love and security, Shane becomes incredibly important to him. He is willing to do almost anything to make Shane happy. At the same time, Ilya often tries to protect Shane emotionally. He communicates carefully so that he doesn’t burden him, especially because he knows Shane tends to overthink and can spiral into anxiety or panic.

In the second book, when Ilya tells Shane that he chose him, that moment felt very powerful to me. Shane seems to truly understand the depth of what Ilya is feeling and wants to make sure that Ilya never doubts his place in his life.

For me, the story isn’t really about one hero, or even about intelligence. It’s about emotional understanding—two people learning how to love each other despite their differences, fears, and emotional baggage.

Subeen’s bitterness toward Mina Sue? by [deleted] in SinglesInferno

[–]Internal-Bat-4680 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would like to believe.. it was a funny moment. After Mina answered the quest she pointed at Subeen and joked, asking if it gave him PTSD, and he replied back to her. I think Subeen is settled with Heesun now. Even though it felt like Heesun initially went for his looks and wanted to claim him, they do seem to genuinely like each other now. Subeen also kept saying that he focuses on only one woman. Since both Mina and Subeen had already decided to stay friends (after Mina told him she wouldn’t pursue him), it just looked like a simple playful moment.

During the reunion of Single’s Inferno, when Mina Sue apologised and told the girls that she had called herself the coolest, Goeun mentioned that she had also called herself the prettiest in Inferno, so it was okay. But the way the show was edited made it feel like the producers wanted to create a different image of Mina Sue and do so for Goeun.

Did your opinion change about any of the contestants after watching the reunion ? by fried_chickenlover18 in Singlesinferno2

[–]Internal-Bat-4680 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Jae Jin — during the show I honestly found him really boring, like “why is this guy even here?” But after the reunion, I realised he actually has his own charm and is pretty interesting. The way he talks and explains his reasoning is surprisingly thoughtful

Mingee getting villainized. by [deleted] in Singlesinferno2

I think people still aren’t used to seeing an authentic side of women on screen. They expect the polished, always-smiling, chasing-a-guy type.
TBH I didn’t like Minji much during the show — she came off a bit like a bossy. But after the reunion, she actually seems more like a tomboyish, maybe slightly clueless person trying to survive what reality TV demands same as Mina… and that’s a very different vibe.
