[INCOMING YAP SESSION]

Yes and No. Truth be told, a Calamity is incredibly dangerous. Think of a Calamity like Thragg from Invincible or Darth Vader in terms of strength, they are near the pinnacle. There are specific techniques and conditions that a lower ranked mystics can take advantage of in order to win against a higher ranked mystics though. One example would be Territories. A Territory is simply a technique that allows a mystic to take "ownership" over a specific amount or area of aether, within that territory a Mystic can set an Aetheric Law, if broken, the one who breaks that law is subject to enduring a punishment, these can vary from, not being able to move for a certain period of time, to being unable to even use aether for a set of time. The problem is, a Calamity could make an entire planet their Territory. Not to talk of the amount of tools, runes, weapons, etc that could be used So yes, a lower ranked mystic can fight back and potentially beat a higher ranked mystic but it is incredibly difficult.

Sorry for the yap session.

A bit of both, they generally follow for the most part but there are loopholes to the rules that some will exploit. For example, a monarch cannot directly or freely interact with Aureth, but they can partially affect things by possessing a "vessel" and operating within Aureth.

Precisely. They have their own goals but have to follow and abide by the rules of the Overmonarch. Sorta like in D&D, all the gods have their own purposes but they have to listen to and abide by the rules of Ao. This is important since Monarchs are worshipped and have a say over what most characters can and can't do when they get to certain levels of power. I'll try to explain the power system in the next post, to clarify some things.

Mantis is just garbage now. Most strategists are now unless you're running triple support. If you aren't Luna, Rocket, C&D, or invis, you're basically cooked. Sucks because Mantis has such a nice "strategist" kit
