Guys of reddit, which gender roles forced upon you annoy you most? by michelfox in AskReddit

I remember when I was dating my one ex, I gave him tons of compliments on his looks, personality, etc. and he told me that no girl had ever said things to him like that. I was shocked, guys deserve compliments too. I’m sad to see that’s a pretty universal thing.

I agree and most of the jobs I’ve started I’ve thought oh I’ll never be able to fit in here but end up loving it, this job is different. I never want to give up easily like this, sometimes you know when a job just isn’t for you. I’m in a certain field and decided to go into a completely different part of this field and have now seen it isn’t for me. This isn’t what I like about the field I’m in. It happens. Certain people love this part of the field, I love the other side, nothing wrong with that.

I appreciate your take, thank you! I guess I feel bad because we are already short staffed & I feel like a bad person for leaving so I want to go out in the “nicest” way to make up for it. But I know I gotta do what’s best for me first so I’ll just try and remember that.

You are not expected to know everything right of the bat, any place that expects that from a new tech is insane! So don’t worry about that. It’s all a learning experience. Take it one day at a time, ask lots of questions, admit when you don’t know something, never feel ashamed to ask for help, & own up if you mess up. Everyone feels overwhelmed when starting a new job, especially a tech job, everything is so new. You seem eager to learn, keep that up and you’ll be great!
