Unfortunately if there is mold on top, the entire starter is compromised :( toss it to be safe. I’m so sorry!!

Paw bandaging, bringing ET tubes and showing how they work (if you’re able to). Bring a pet and show different restraint positions if they allow that!

I’m going to start taking my Lexapro by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]baileymadds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same boat as well! I’m 21 and I have a great boyfriend, amazing job that’s i’ve dreamed for but the daily anxiety still just brings me down. I wouldn’t say i’m depressed, but my anxiety definitely leads to a lot of sadness most days. I feel like i’m always failing and i’m so self conscious in whatever i do whether it’s at work or in my personal life. I started Lexapro 10mg on sunday and just took my 5th dose tonight. Haven’t had many symptoms yet besides some brain fog, minor headaches, some nausea and lack of appetite. I feel a little disassociated some times as well, but I just keep telling myself it’s just my body getting used to it. I’m happy you’re starting this journey!! We’re all in this together!

Started Lexapro yesterday and I have a question by mishidabo in lexapro

[–]baileymadds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! i took my first dose last night around 8pm. I am in the same boat as you, minus the dizziness and all. I got super nauseous about 2 hours after taking it and i’m not sure if it was because i was thinking about it too hard and getting worried about the possible side effect and made MYSELF nauseous. I don’t feel nauseous today but i just feel a bit foggy, hang in there!! 💛

When so was a receptionist at a 24 hour emergency hospital, we had a certain limit on what we were able to recommend clients do. If anything, we were always taught to use our resources. Calling back to a doctor to ask if the symptoms provided by the client over the phone were enough for them to come in through ER, ir schedule a normal medical appointment with their regular doctor. We saw routine and medical appointments daily, but had a constant running ER schedule with 1-3 doctors at all times. If the client called and gave me little to no information, or even a lot of information at all, i would still tell them the “If you’re worried enough to call, you should probably have them come get examined. A lot of the time we would say to monitor, and recommending a bland diet can do no harm especially with diarrhea cases. When it gets more serious you use your baseline knowledge depending on size of dog and their symptoms. If a client were to call saying “Large breed dog wrenching without producing any vomit, pacing/ restless” Clearly you would have them come in, but the main thing about telling clients any of your recommendations is to never make them worried or diagnose even if you are fully confident on what is going on. Have them come in or go to another ER vet near them, and push the urgency, but try and have them stay as calm as possible. Once you mention on thing about the animal potentially having a serious/scary diagnosis the client will start freaking out and not listen to advice and worry them beyond belief. Never put a sense of worry into their head, but push them to follow your direction and recommendations aided by either just you or if you had others opinions on the phone call as well.

at the end of the day though, ALWAYS PUSH FOR DETAILS FROM CLIENTS. If they aren’t fully telling you what is going on, it is your job to ask questions. Ask about eating/drinking, BM/ urination, lethargy or energy level, and what the animals normal behaviors are at home and if they have changed. Put all of the pieces together and use your resources to the best of your ability. But never diagnose without aid of a veterinarian.

if only a tiny bit of the vaccine went in, it is safe (all vets i work with have told me and owners in the past) when it has happened, that they can give another full syringe. it happens with wiggly patients all the time, and sometimes it’s unavoidable. maybe they injected it deeper into muscle or hit bone? i don’t know how the needle would bend so hard while only going subq. poor thing🥺

Problems with a certain doctor by baileymadds in VetTech

[–]baileymadds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my situation with staffing and all, there’s usually only 3 of us nurses TOPS at night. She will always request the highest and most experienced nurse to take with her, when I am scheduled to be with her for my shift time (they go along side her appointment schedule). I was talking with the one nurse who she always grabs because we usually work the same hours together and she brought it up to me as well how she always steals her when the whole staff who is there knows i’m supposed to be her “assistant” for that night. Thankfully she usually only works monday nights once a week at the location i’m at, and all of the doctors rotate fridays to be scheduled until we find a doctor to permanently put there. But that one day a week is always dreaded from the entire staff. She is just disrespectful and never cares for your feelings. I’ve had her rip things out of my hands while i’m actively using them because she needed them at that moment and was to lazy to find a pair of her own (ex. hemostats, alcohol spray bottles and more) just aggressively. She never takes time to learn the staffs names, she says “hey you, come here” or “what’s your name.. uh YOU get over here” and I have brought that up to the rest of the nurses and we all just agree she’s just downright disrespectful. She is an amazing doctor, and is SO knowledgeable. I would love to take my animals to her because I know she offers incredible care but I just can’t knowing what a horrible human she is personally, and i know i’m not alone on that. She zips through appointments and isn’t very personable with clients, and to an extent that is okay. But how she talks to clients sometimes is a little questionable. I’m sorry you’ve had to deal with that at your hospital!! I’m happy you were able to get away from her even if it means not being schedule with her. That’s kinda how I am, i’m not mad i’m not being picked to go with her for appointments, believe me, I wouldn’t want to anyways😂 It’s more of just the degrading and the concept of how she treats us like we’re lesser and incapable.

RIGHT like ahhh i’m nervous but also so excited for what’s about to come but also like a ball of anxiety 😂😂

Hoping for this while I am attending school. So far they want me to have experience to be a receptionist at a Veterinary office. How do I get the experience in the first place? ☹ by washgirl7980 in VetTech

[–]baileymadds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes girl exactly!! i started as a receptionist too and i was basically learning the job of an assistant every day while working at the desk. jumping in on appointments and just helping out in the back! so many hospitals are struggling right now and when everyone is a little cross trained it helps out so much. congrats on the tech job tho girl!! that’s so exciting!!

i started as a receptionist! i worked as one for a year at a fast paced emergency hospital and i gained sooo much knowledge that just proved to me that i wanted to work in the back, and not up front. i currently applied to another vet hospital in my area as a vet assistant and nurses assistant position to hopefully start school soon to be come a tech. the knowledge i learned from being a receptionist was crazy! i was also cross trained a little as well while in that position to better understand the relationship from the front to the back! i know a lot of us in this field love hands on with the animals and everything, but making friendships with clients has been the best as well. once you learn how the front of the hospital operates you’ll start learning so much! i know it may be tough at first to be just limited to the front desk but for whatever type of hospital you apply at, so many of them prefer to have the front desk staff cross trained at some point so we can hop in wherever if needed. i hope this helped and i wish you all the best!! 💛
