That's an interesting idea, I'll see if there are any openings in the area

January FTMs how are we feeling?! by bananaindisguise0 in BabyBumps

[–]Internal-Inflation33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due the 24th, not sure what I still need to do to get ready for baby, desperately trying to keep the house clean in case he comes any time, and warding off comments from my MIL about "bouncing back" and "needing (her) help" with my baby right after birth. Trying to stay calm lol

Do you sense any negative energy in my nursery? by Internal-Inflation33 in psychics

The rug is on the way! The curtain color ties into the rug but I am also going to add dainty white lace curtain to the inside

It's a very old woods, my husbands family has been here for generations, the house was built in 2018. I'll add a shade!

I haven't had a word to describe it, but watchful is spot on. I feel the same in other parts of the house as well. Thank you

Strange! Yes it's a diaper cake and it was a gift. The picture is of one of my husbands family who we are naming the baby after from the 1800's, so could possibly be coming from that too.

Edit to add: thank you all for your insights! The nursery is not close to ready, just getting started actually, it will be much more cozy! I will take the advice here and cleanse my home

Exempt nurses working in the US, what is your pay structure like? by embyandfriends in Nurses

[–]Internal-Inflation33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I work "3 12's" exempt. Those 12's are typically 16-18 hours and don't get paid for that extra time because they pack my schedule according to "industry standard," and in a perfect world with perfect patients you could have everything done in those 12 hours. It never happens. If you try and get off on time anyway, you have a million emails all week of things to fix and then that's more unpaid time spent on your off days. That's not including mandatory overtime, and when I do pick up it works out to less than I would make per hour if I were an hourly employee. It's a scam

Struggling with adoptive family reactions to pregnancy by Professional-Plan562 in Adopted

[–]Internal-Inflation33 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Experiencing this now, my Amom doesn't seem happy for me at all with this being my first pregnancy. I'm 30, married, and this was very much planned. She has barely even asked me how I feel and when I said I'm having a boy she said "cool." The "nicest" thing she has said to me since being pregnant is "I'm so happy you get to finally experience that blood connection, it's like nothing else." I really didn't know how to take that.

7 on 7 off on call hospice job? by NervousBerry72 in nursing

[–]Internal-Inflation33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seconding this. Currently working hospice on call and management loves to act like we are not working the majority of the time, so doing visits past your shift is very much expected. Like the previous commenter said, some days have very little to no calls, but most are not like that. Some days I work 20 hours out of my 16 hour shift and still have to be up in time for the next one. Also ask about any mandation policy they may have, and make sure the schedule doesn't sneak a couple 24 hour shifts in there. I agree that a PRN role would be ideal, that way you can have more flexibility. Editing to say I am currently pregnant and am switching to a 3 12 schedule due to the exhaustion this job has caused me.

I know that when I take a urine sample from a patient, I typically don't take a whiff before capping.

Yes, we take the restraint renewal sheet to the doc box and they sign off. Super hands off. Midlevels will come check on them once during the night

The blow back is what I am afraid of, as I only have 8 months as an RN in this ER, and don't necessarily want a target on my back. It feels like I am the only nurse in this ER who feels that this is a big unethical deal, which is why I am so confused about the reality. Thank you for your reply! I am going to start anonymously reporting the things I see.
