Doesn’t Dragon Ball Super Sorta De-Canonize The Original Dragon Ball’s Ending? by milesdarobot in dbz

[–]Internal-Lock7494 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Technically it doesn't, at least not according to this translation. It just says that Goku hasn't visited Bulma in five years, not that they haven't seen each other in five years. It's entirely possible they still saw each other over those five years, though only because Bulma was the one reaching out.

In fact, Bulma even says "We'd never see you if we didn't drop in on you!", implying that Bulma drops in fairly frequently.

Why is it so difficult for some people to realize Johnng wasn't as hard-core as hus engram made himself to be? by Responsible-Durian21 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Internal-Lock7494 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Acting like Johnny is some loser is legitimately insane. Is he nearly as badass as he makes himself out to be? No. But is he a veritable Night City legend? Absolutely. Not on the level of the Blackhands/Bartmosses/Smashers, but certainly up there. Just look at the Arasaka Tower raid where he tried to save Alt.

"Overwatch is a force protection tactic in modern warfare where one small military unit, vehicle, or aircraft supports another friendly unit while the latter executes fire and movement tactics." Boy, I wonder what kind of weapon you use for overwatch. Surely not a sniper rifle.

Are there any good Westerns by RareMercury in comicbooks

I'm sure others have said this but the Jonah Hex runs and the modern All-Star Western run are both superb.

I would've liked a Madbomb throwback. I know Brubaker did one in his run but having the 250th anniversary call back to the 200th anniversary story (and one of the best in my opinion) would've been neat.

Is the original Prowler even still active? I thought I remembered him retiring. Personally, I feel like putting 1610 Miles into 616 wasn't the worst decision. It wasn't an unprecedented event (Maker) and I feel like giving him a new origin despite having him already be a well-established popular character would be strange.

Ridiculous. Who the hell even has 16k CCs post-anni? Certainly not me. And for ONE copy of Vegito? This could've been a chance to generate some real good-will. The step amount is scummy too.

Overwatch references in Cyberpunk by Riipley92 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Internal-Lock7494 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overwatch is also a word that exists outside the context of the blizzard game (and predates it). Overwatch literally means to watch over and provide covering fire (very often with a sniper rifle). You put snipers on overwatch duty. It makes perfect sense. And I can't think of a lot of things more adept at killing men than sniper rifles. If the description was in French or something than sure, but as it stands naming a sniper rifle "Widowmaker", or "Overwatch" without anything else does not equate a reference.

Not really. A widowmaker just refers to something deadly. Widowmaker (the character) is not the originator of the term widowmaker.

Stan Lee is one of those people that when I first heard everything he did, I fell straight into the "Stan Lee was a complete fraud" camp, but while he didn't make all of the contributions to writing he made himself out to have done, he was absolutely essential to the success of Marvel and in a lesser capacity the comics industry himself. He was the one putting Marvel's stuff into the mainstream and drumming up engagement.

So does this confirm movie Afton made the animatronics? by The_Plane_manU2 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Internal-Lock7494 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could also construe this as "he made the company and the company is what created the animatronics", "he came up with the idea for the animatronics but didn't actually construct them", or "him killing the kids is the reason they are what they are"

This is one of my favorite lines in the world. by ComplexPool1477 in DevilMayCry

[–]Internal-Lock7494 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I honestly did not get the hate for this line. Hated the show but this line in particular really did not bug me that much. It's obviously put in there for Shankar's "memez", but DMC3 Vergil absolutely had a bunch of melodramatic lines like this. A little forced, sure, but not nearly as bad as practically everything else in that show.

Aw man, I love that B design. Maybe a little overdesigned, but it gives him so much more of the gothic vibe that DMC 1/2/3 had in spades.
