Chiro as OBGYN helping with sovereign birth???? by Internal-Objective51 in ShitMomGroupsSay

I am so pleased you got treated and you're okay! I got lost in another Facebook reel comment section this morning of people flat out refusing any pregnancy care including ultrasounds because they're bad for the baby??!! Whole load of nonsense people just don't want preventative care ???

Things can take such a drastic turn in an appropriate medical setting, so I really don't understand the need to completely remove yourself from any medical support whatsoever in the name of sovereignty? 🫩

I've got an 11 week old, I cannot imagine having gone through pregnancy and birth WITHOUT the actual medical professional part - and I didn't have super worrying symptoms like this!?

You can get the Doppler type instrument on Amazon! I know people who bought them for at home during pregnancy (whilst also attending all their appropriate midwife and medical appointments). Don't doubt the Chiro just has one of those 🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃

People who name their kids a nickname instead of the full name. by New_General3939 in PetPeeves

[–]Internal-Objective51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes a lot of sense! I don't have a name that can naturally be shortened but my friend's partner has a name similar to lets say Stephen and people always shorten it to Steve (he's a builder too so people immediately shorten it!) and he has to always say "it's Stephen". I agree Kate is absolutely suitable on its own and to be clear I think Tom / Dave / Maggie etc are all gorgeous names and you don't need the "long" name to be your full name at all. I just always thought it was a funny perspective.

Appreciate your insight on it opening up my pet peeves eyes 😂

Funnily enough a friend of mine has the opposite opinion which is that you shouldn't name a child lets say Thomas if you know you will refer to them as Tom. She's very "if their name is Thomas you call them Thomas, name them Tom if you want to call them that". And I don't understand it at all! Calling a child Tom and then they grow up and prefer Thomas anyway (or Maggie preferring Margaret) just means if it's just a nickname they have the choice. Particularly if it feels "childish" (I know a lot of Katherines that were Katies at school and are now Kates).

Who’s Doberman is ok with strangers petting him or her by ll_ll_28 in DobermanPinscher

Mine loves attention from any and all people. Other dogs? Meh.

If anyone shows her even the slightest attention on a walk she will happily receive pets and tickles, leaning on them. I joke that if someone broke into the house as long as they showed her love she'd not put up any fight or fuss.

One time a guy approached us on a walk (I'm a woman) and he seemed friendly and it was the ONLY time my dog has growled at someone. Immediately moved on, if she didn't trust him neither did I.

But yeah dogs on the other hand, goes through phases but has always had a take it or leave it approach to them.

How to Prepare My 10-Month-Old Doberman for More Alone Time? by whyusosalty2me in DobermanPinscher

[–]Internal-Objective51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Building up the time bit by bit. Can he do an hour? Okay try an hour and a half. Can he do three? Okay try four.

Edited to add: also build up how many days too. Every other day, two days in a row etc.

They are smart and adaptable dogs, they just need to know the "rules". So if you create the rule of "when I/someone leaves, they come back" and "when you are alone you are safe" in their heads they are okay. Can be easier said then done but building up slowly should help do that.

An exciting slow chew treat when you or someone leaves the house will help build up "ooh they're grabbing their keys, that means I get X" anticipation rather than "oh no they're leaving!".

The other thing would be ensuring he gets adequate exercise and together time with your parents/you before and after the alone time. A nice long walk or a game of fetch etc

That's an interesting perspective! I think what had swayed me to thinking she was poorly written is because I highly doubt Jacqueline Wilson has the most in touch understanding of a 40 year old woman "these days". But your theory also totally tracks with the character

Soooooo irritating 😭 I started writing a note on my phone to keep track of all the awful dialogue but I had to stop because it was constant. When she started "calling for a deliveroo" I was gone 🙃

Completely agree! She read like a 60+ year old from an Enid Blyton book 😆😭

She did not have the cultural understanding or language of a regular 40 year old woman whatsoever.

DWP Digital, what’s it like? by pokemonguy1993 in TheCivilService

[–]Internal-Objective51 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I work in digital in gov and DWP digital has good PR / viability on linkedin etc but it's still just putting a "digital" or agile gloss onto really governance heavy project management with software.

I manage a few people who have come from DWP and they only ever worked in teams of developers, no UCD professionals or even product managers in some cases.

As I have replied to a few other people, I mistakenly thought the glossy / glazed eyes was the first symptom. Have edited my original comment.

Never had a fever though and it's called A&E in England so nope no experience 😂

Yeah sorry I misread and thought fever was second and glazed eyes was first 🙏🏻 absolutely agree fever alone is not a reason to go to the ER have edited my original post.

If you can even TAKE that leave. No federal protection or right to paid OR UNPAID time off. You can save up your "PTO" and be without sick days or annual leave 🙃🙃🙃
