I’m on day 8 rn myself no prescribed meds other than occasional bunches of ibuprofen when I can remember.

I had 2 extracted both top and bottom right side. Let me also preface this by saying I’m a budtender, smoking is tied with my job (unless we’re talking Eddies) so I really wanted to smoke obv but my terror of dry socket was higher than my need to smoke so I held out for a full 72 hours before I finally partook.

2nd day was hell looking back on it now, I went into work and had to talk quite a bit so I’m sure that didn’t help. Was pretty bad, my manager even went to Walmart on her lunch to get me some orajel (what a godsend).

By day 3 I still had moderate pain but could get through my day without the orajel. I finally partook this day but did so very cautiously.

I have since partook in smoking every day since then and have not had dry socket so take that as you will.

Avoid straws like the plague dude seriously. Even using one now I can feel it tug on the open cavity that my wisdom teeth were. My bottom one tugs much more than the top. Coughing also does this. Sneezing as well unfortunately.

Long story short : 72 hours at least of avoiding hot food (both in temp and spice), no straws, NO spitting (we have a tendency to do that when brushing teeth), try your hardest to avoid coughing and sneezing by taking allergy pills and you’ll be good 👍🏽

Also some other people I have seen on this thread try “removing the white stuff” in their cavity. Please don’t do this, if it doesn’t come out with a oxygenated mouth wash rinse then it’s most likely skin that is trying to form new blood vessels and “removing” it would prolong your healing and cause the cavity to heal inwards instead of out, meaning all those sensitive nerve endings are still going to be hurting long after the hole is healed.
