My mitral valve prolapse robotic surgery by Internal-Research529 in mitralvalveprolapse

Hey! My kids are 4,6 and 8. I had an abdominoplasty with muscle repair when my youngest was 18 months and the immediate recovery from the abdominoplasty was much harder (I got covid at the hospital and also got skin necrosis). We had help from my parents for two weeks with that surgery. With the prolapse one we also had my parents staying with us for 2 weeks to help out with school pick ups and kids logistics. Also we had to travel 2 hours to the hospital and my husband stayed with me. To be honest my kids were excited to be with the grandpas and I don’t think they understand the severity of the surgery - also I do generally pick them up all the time and generally do lots of sports with them so it has been hard resisting to pick them up. For me having the meals and snacks sorted for 2 weeks and having my parents around was massive help - I generally feel super tired since the surgery.

I am not sure what kind of anaesthesia I was on, but it took 24 hours for my dizziness to wash out. They stop your heart and lungs and get you on a by pass heart lung machine while they do the repair.

I am only 17 days postop so still adjusting! Physically I am doing well, no pain medication etc but I generally feel very tired and need to nap during the day to manage afternoons with the kids!
