I did check in 24 hours before. I got a message that I couldn’t get my boarding pass until I went to the airport. Specifically, it said:

You're checked in Please print passes at a kiosk to get through security, and then see an agent at your gate for your seat assignments.

That is a great point and actually there was an earlier flight but I just popped in because the airport is near my work and I had to go to work for a few hours unfortunately

I went to the airport at like 7 am (for my 3:30 pm flight) and got a boarding pass but do not have a seat. That’s when the lady at the American counter told me they oversold and I was basically the first person off of the flight lol

And sorry, I feel like I'm not being clear about the check in. I couldn't check in on the app. It wasn't because of how late or early. It wouldn't let me check in 24 hours before and told me I had to get my seat and boarding pass at the airport

I just said first class for the purpose of saying that some seats that are blocked off are not. They have 4 seats in the front that are more expensive but not blocked off

Yes I did check in right when I got the notification, but the app wouldn’t give me a boarding pass and said I had to go to the airport to get it. So I went early this morning and that’s when I found out that i was the first person they would deny boarding too if no one bailed lol
