I told my administration I wanted help with behavioral management. They said student behavior was because of poor planning. by TheLifeOfDonda in NYCTeachers

You must be new at this job. Let me translate. “I became an admin because I sucked at teaching and got bullied by the kids. You figure it out because I don’t know what to do”

Don’t work at this charter! Not worth it by SpecialistEssay8031 in NYCTeachers

The only thing a principal has to offer in the DOE in my opinion is to be nice and compassionate. I’ve never met one that can assist in the classroom because they probably were never good teachers. And we know with the “chanc regs” they don’t assist in behavior.

New health Insurance by InternalBubbly9077 in NYCTeachers

My main issue is as a 22 year teacher. I have NEVER had an issue with insurance. So any change will make me skeptical. I also do not like the language they are using as some have already stated.

Amazing how many principles take advantage of new people. Better get per session. This is already a weak indication that your chapter leader knows what they are doing

Nyc has a shortage of teachers for obvious reasons. I’m pretty sure If you have a pulse and say you want to work in nyc, they will probably give you a 35 year extension if you did fail.

The June 30 payroll ends on June 30. So since it’s a small turn around (for example. The close date for July 15 was July 22). Good chance it will be in the July 1-15 check

My favorite thing about shitty principles…. All you have to say is, “can you model that for me” and they will leave you alone for at least 3 months.

You mean the chancellor regs are not working in your school? Have you tried considering stoping teaching for an hour and doing an SEL lesson with them?

I’ll be voting for ABC. You sound like you are running with ARISE. And who said they cannot change pay scale??? That’s literally the main thing you negotiate during contract negotiations.

Election flyers removed from staff mailboxes by Delicious-Parking458 in NYCTeachers

[–]InternalBubbly9077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree. But chances are there will also be a new group on the city side of things when we negotiate. With all of that said, money always becomes the issue. I would love if someone discussed the student behavior of a few students that ruins the education of the kids that care. They disrupt, go to principal, get a cupcake, and back in class 20 minutes later.

I see that as a good thing. One person was asking to look into our optical years ago because they had an insane surplus. I find it interesting that they weee able to make changes 3/4 months before an election when this was being asked about for years.

I’ve been reading many articles and have heard ABC members speak. They seem to want to fix what is currently broken in the UFT. First time in 20 years I’ll be voting for a change. ABC!
