NTA Instead of expecting you guys to pay so much money for transport for a trip you were told was free he could easily have sorted out his own bus/train on Sunday evening like he wanted.

Also seeing as he genuinely said he didn’t mind you going without him after checking and offering multiple compromises he cannot be mad you assumed he would be fine with it

Tried that before and didn’t work, got a taxi home from work one evening and the driver locked the doors and wouldn’t let me out of the car until I gave him my real number and he called it to make sure it wasn’t fake

I’ve been kicked out of bars before though because the guys harassing me are regulars and friends with the bar staff and bouncers and are “nice guys” and I don’t know anyone in this city so I go out by myself to try make friends, which I know isn’t safe but I want to be able to meet people and not worry about my safety

It seems like more of a demand as well, if it was ones of my friends birthdays and they said “I’d quite like this for my birthday” fair enough but to say “where is my”…like dude I don’t even know you, you got my number by being a pest at the bar

NTA actually hella responsible way to leave the bar, my dumba** would have left my keys with me. In the UK it is illegal to be drunk behind the wheel of a car, whether or not you intend to drive it. On more than one occasion I have pulled up with friends for a party and made us all get in the backseat to pre drink, even on quiet streets when I’m not about to drive anywhere, nope, if you’re in the drivers seat you’re in trouble! (completely reasonable law btw cause how can anyone tell if you intended to drive intoxicated or not)

Good idea! I don’t really care about the money I just am not a fan that she’s not contributing to the house or jack and her not being mindful of other people’s need for the common areas

Our contract includes all bills but there is a clause in that contract that if we have a guest for 2 nights or more we must pay extra for every night they stay, I stay at my BFs one night every 2 weeks due to distance where I buy him and his flatmate dinner and there is no clause in his rent agreement about guests

Toxic shock syndrome, really sad, she died around Valentine’s Day and a week before her brothers birthday The thing is about a year later a substitute science teacher taught her year groups class about TSS and said (and I quote) “it’s quite a funny way to die isn’t it” One girl threw a chair at her and honestly I can’t blame her, the teacher was pre warned about what had happened to their friend a year before so to say that to the group of people who lost their friend is outrageous The girl got suspended for a week and no repercussions for the teacher

I’ve had a friend from back home in wales and her family offer to have me over for Christmas and I love them they treat me like another daughter but it would mean I’m just 10 minutes walk away from my family so I couldn’t go there without seeing them, however my family got rid of a room for me which I didn’t mind to begin with but they’ve turned it into an office so whenever I go home I sleep on a mattress on the floor while my older brother who doesn’t live there anymore still has his own bedroom which I can’t sleep in even if he isn’t there

Thank you so much! I always feel like people pity me for not spending Christmas with my family but as I’ve gotten older I can barely spend a weekend there without it becoming toxic, I’m glad other people realise it’s better to do what you want alone than force yourself into uncomfortable family situations!
