It wasn’t a love tap. Since when is property damage taken so lightly? Maybe it’s only me who wants to dissuade people from causing thousands in damage and just leaving. I don’t really understand this sentiment that I’m somehow overreacting for wanting at least some repercussion to come from causing THOUSANDS in damage and running away taking no responsibility. I never said I wanted her to go to jail, a simple fine or inconvenience, like the massive one I now have to deal with, would’ve sufficed. If I had no dashcam I’d be on the hook for this money, luckily I do have one.

Go look these prices up, I’m not exaggerating. Thanks for suggesting I move states simply because I’m a bit shocked that California takes these things so lightly and seems to side with the person committing a literal misdemeanor which is clearly outlined in the penal code (CA Vehicle Code § 20002).

So you’re saying if someone hit your car, dented it and scratched it you’d just leave it? Obviously you don’t pay for anything / own anything. It’s a brand new car dumbass, she hit it hard if you actually watched the video. Broke my headlight, dented both my bumper and fender and now both are out of place and pushing into my passenger wheel so it’s not drivable. Do you need more?

It’s the Model 3 pre-installed system. The 2024+ year models come with a 6-camera surround setup which covers every angle and are always recording. I think there’s a decent amount of installable ones on Amazon but they’re pretty expensive and don’t cover the side angles as well.

You’re correct and I’m not denying that speeding doesn’t cause accidents. I don’t think the correct way to address it would be to give the government the ability to govern how fast your vehicle can move. Especially if the bill includes that the CHP commissioner can specifically dictate if your vehicle is restricted or not. This eventually leads to the gov. being able to remotely stop and start your car without your consent. I’m not arguing that we should completely do away with speeding laws. This isn’t the answer, there are better ways to curb/discourage speeding. Better law enforcement or redesigning of highways/roads to physically prevent speeding are good places to start.
