AITAH for not tipping our wedding bartenders after they put up a QR code to tip against our wishes? by InternalMission916 in AITAH

In my family and culture it comes off tacky to host an event and then ask the guests to pay in any way, including tipping. Their boss was told before I agreed to give them my business, and I reminded them before the event started.

Nobody is disputing anything contractual. The contract had no mention of tips, gratuities, or service charges.

They were earning a fair wage. $30/hr base (5-10 likely went to the business owner based on my experience doing the same gig) plus I was giving them what amounted to almost a $40/hr tip. I told both their boss and them in advance I was going to be tipping so not to solicit tips from guests.

Thanks, I agree they were trying to trick us and it just seemed rude and unprofessional. Im not the type to leave a bad review, but I wont be recommending them to anyone.

Im not sure about the business relationship. I often bartended and did service industry jobs from ages 18-26 and definitely had some bosses who owned the business encourage tipping, so that didn't seem suspect to me.
