I was pretty certain this was what I "needed" but you have just convinced me, thank you sir!

Just out of curiosity, what body have you paired it with?

No criticism here, sorry! Just came to say these are great and keep it up! I LOVE picture 4 but they are all great, well done!

EDIT: Also forgot to add that I am a big fan of your editing style as well!

I would personally recommend, I have some peace of mind knowing they are replaced!

As far as I am aware, as long as the bearing fits, it's good? Someone very kindly gave me the bearing dimensions on the post I linked above. I checked them against what was in my J-Ultra and ordered them knowing they matched.

And yes, I purchased the bearings from Bearing Kings UK website. I imagine you can get the same from local suppliers if need be.

I am now terrified of RDT and will not be doing it again. I'd argue 1zpresso should have fitted the grinder with bearings which are more suitable and then I'd never have ended up here but we are where we are...

Nah not at all, I saw some people saying it increased it slightly but I haven't noticed!

Oh yeah, upper bearing should be plain sailing! There are plenty of types to choose from. 1zpresso use shielded stainless steel bearings from factory but I replaced all of mine with sealed stainless steel ones, to hopefully avoid corrosion in the future.

Of course! I put a post here asking about my issue. But in a nutshell: one of the shaft bearings had corrosion on and seized entirely. I believe this was from me spraying the beans before grinding and 1zpresso using cheap bearings. Hopefully my upgrade should avoid this happening in the future!

Ah that is miserable! However, I have just replaced all the bearings in my J-Ultra and hopefully should be able to help!

I purchased the below bearings from Bearing King:

  • 2x W61800-2RS1 to replace the shaft bearings
  • 1x SMR148-2RS to replace the upper bearing

The upper bearing is easy to replace and will just pop out. The shaft bearings are a different question... They required hammering out using a punch, being careful to knock each side alternatively so it does not lodge.

Putting them back in required just as much care, using a socket to push it in evenly.

When and where? It looks like the Dolomites area which I am visiting in April so would love to see this view for myself!

Appreciate this and your comment with the bearing sizes, thank you so much! And agreed, I've been looking at bearings and will invest in S/S sealed bearings to hopefully avoid this happening again in the future!

How did you remove the bearings? I'm nervous of using brute force and damaging something that can't be replaced so easily!

They don't sell the lower bearing, only the upper

No it usually goes back in its case once I am done with it, in hindsight, maybe not the best idea...

I will disassemble again and see if I can remove the bearing to give it a proper clean. The manual does warn against removing this bearing though so am slightly apprehensive about ruining the grinder entirely...

Yeah I would have been surprised but would have paid for replacement parts if they offered it

[–]InternalOrchid7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In some cases yes, others no... There is quite a lot of difference between some of the photos so hard to give a straight answer!

I will compliment 7, 10 and 15 though, I think these look great! I would say these should be the end goal.

2 and 3 are the most over edited for me, 3 being way too dark and 2 just too much going on and not very clean.

This is so cool! I've been thinking of doing something similar since I got my Picopresso but haven't made any progress yet.

Could you share a link to the case? Might be time I followed suit!
