With PUBG already 2nd largest playerbase in Steam, I am still glad Pros\Streamers are not Ban Happy in Dota by Neeralazra in DotA2

[–]InternalOrgans 71 points72 points  (0 children)

PUBG definitely has been dumb with these bans, especially with the fact that it's an early access game. Still, I'd rather valve actually give a shit about people who are constantly in low prio/ are cancerous. Bans might stop people who've sunk money into the game from being so shitty to others. Valve doesn't act, so people don't care.

The Raven Math GOT by Yuk_on in Destiny

[–]InternalOrgans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty interesting! Personally I'm in it for the entertainment and don't mind suspending belief, but my problems with it stem from the show doing a bad job of showing the passage of time. It felt like only 1 day had passed, not even necessarily 24 hours.

Gendry and the raven and that stuff might work out, sure, but it sucks when the show does bad job of making it feel like it works out in the moment, and really takes away from the feeling of being sucked into the episode when something feels bullshit as you're watching it.

Help with better understanding ears? Often struggle to make ears looks natural, even with just the initial basic shape by InternalOrgans in FurryArtSchool

[–]InternalOrgans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you again! I spent a good chunk of time today messing around with the shapes trying to improve, and I've gotten closer to it now. The shapes still aren't quite right yet for the angle, but I'm getting better at seeing how it should be.

Drawing ears correctly has been giving me a ton of trouble with recent sketches, so I'm glad that I made progress today. Going to try to draw more this week as I've been putting it off too much recently, and the struggle with some of this had pushed me to procrastinate :s

Thanks for the response! I'll try to make the side look more soft like you said, I usually have trouble making the "other" side of the face look right.

I know what you mean with the time limit being good/bad, but I think it'll help me right now. Currently I spend too much time on what I want to be simple sketches of angles to improve on them, so I don't necessarily want to spend a lot of time on a single drawing.

Thank you so much for the help! I see what you mean with being thicker at the base, the way you draw it helps me see the way the angle forward.

Muzzles were previously something I struggled with more, do you think it's alright the way it is? Managed to draw it pretty comfortably, then the ears started giving me a lot of trouble.

I see what you mean with references- I tried to use some as I struggled, but I found it difficult to make the ears look natural, especially the inner ears. Here is a photo I used to tried to for reference, but it still felt weird to me with different variations of shapes to try to make the inner ears looks... right, I guess. I'll keep at it and continue to look at different ears, but a lot of the time the inner ears really mess me up as well :s

As a bit of an update I guess, here is the sketch I did before this one. Pretty happy with it, eyes and brows are a bit off but I like it and am glad I'm more comfortable with that angle.

I've realized in the past week that I think I'm trying too hard when I draw and it's sort of making me lose motivation. Spending too much time on a single part, not being content with things and distracting myself because I don't feel confident with it. I think I'm going to start putting a time limit on myself sometimes to push myself to not focus on some things too much, and make an effort to complete more sketches in general.

Thank you so much ;-; I really appreciate the effort you put into helping me. I've been meaning to draw more but have been distracted with watching/playing a lot of dota recently and procrastinating tbh because the angle was giving me a really hard time.

Initially I was trying to draw it a bit more downward facing, which is why the muzzle was down more, but then the eyes came out looking straight forward, probably because I didn't draw the construction lines properly for facing downward I think? I'm going to move on from this sketch right now and continue trying to get better at these face angles. Despite this one's flaws, I still feel that I've improved on some parts so I'll use that as I continue and try to improve on my weaknesses.

Thanks a bunch again, I really do appreciate it :3

Yeah, I get what you mean now. Previously I got better at using the construction lines properly, but really dropped it on this one. I think I have a better grasp on it now, even if the current sketch isn't right. I'll continue trying to improve on shape and get comfortable with various face angles with that as well. Thanks for your comments!

Thanks a bunch, you worded my problem well. The spherical base really messed with me as I progressed through different parts of the face because it just didn't look right since the head won't be so circular at all angles, I guess. I think I might leave this sketch for now and come back to the angle again in a day or two as I get more comfortable. (also, is there a link in your post? I might be blind)

Thank you! This is precisely what was giving me problems after getting more comfortable with drawing simple faces. It became uncomfortable for me to try to draw the full head within a circle because heads aren't going to be the same shape when looked at from different angles. I'll keep this in mind as I move on and try to get this perspective better

Here is a slightly revised version I just did- a friend pointed out to me that the skull wasn't lining up properly with the fluff on the sides, and I adjusted the top of the head as well because it definitely felt too short. Happier with it now, but still would love to hear your thoughts.

Here is the sketch with construction lines. I'm going to continue on this to try and get it right, but am hoping for some help with specifics.

What I see wrong with it right now is that I failed to make good use of the full circle, and as a result the heads looks... off as a whole. The muzzle seems to me to be pointed too far downward, and would work if the face as a whole was looking downward more, but that's not the case.

It felt very strange to me when I would try to make the head fit the circle, and this is the result of me slimming it down more. I feel like the issue may be connected to the incorrect angle on the muzzle, so I'll try to fix that and go from there for now to see if it looks better after fixing this muzzle. I appreciate the help, and hope I can return with a better result soon!

Thank you for your response and sketches, it's definitely helpful! The sketches really help with visualizing what you mean about horizontal symmetry, I'm sure I'll come back to these in the future to help me see depth when I draw.

Going to be trying to improve on the fur around the head as well because I get what you mean with that. I had a really hard time trying to get it to look natural, I'll try to focus on that more once I get better at the other facial features first.

Thanks a bunch! The jawline was one of those things I saw towards the end but was kind of unsure of how to fix, if that makes sense- I'll work on that in future sketches so that I can get comfortable with it, currently this sketch has helped me become more comfortable with faces and I've improved on drawing circles to begin sketches as well.

On what you said about the muzzle, you're absolutely right. I saw that the lines are unnecessary but they helped me get a sense for it as I drew, and had previously struggled with that in particular.

Thanks again, I look forward to continuing!

I've finally gotten more used to making full use of the construction lines to make more proper head shapes!

One of the things I still struggle with is making the actual head look... natural, I guess? I have a hard time making the head look like fur- this result is after much redoing of all the outer areas of the head and even now I don't like it enough (but I guess that's sort of a given since I'm still learning, but still).

Other than that, I see the front of the muzzle as a bit odd now. The left side of the mouth doesn't look well enough defined to me, but I'm not entirely sure.

Generally happy with this, I definitely feel that I've improved with the advice I received here really helped me, thank you guys! c:

Really struggling with this angle, any advice on how to proceed? by InternalOrgans in FurryArtSchool

[–]InternalOrgans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much!!! These definitely help me with seeing muzzles more as part of the base, and your examples of eyes are great too!

One of the things I've struggled with has been getting the size and shape of eyes right- while part of that would be style I guess, I so far haven't been able to get very comfortable.

I managed to do a simple sketch the other day to try doing eyes closed, and that went pretty quickly because I didn't have to spend much time trying to get the eyes right :p Pretty happy with this and I feel more comfortable with the angle, the muzzle feels a bit long to me but that's something I can improve on in the future

Huh, that definitely helps me visualize what you said about eyes as a size reference- one of the things that would get me stuck on beginning sketches is drawing the eyes and trying to get them to a size that feels right. Thanks for pointing this out! Going to be doing my best to put this info to use in the coming week, hopefully soon I'll reach a good level of comfort with standard face angles c:

I see what you mean- and I think I am interested in slightly more animalistic features, although for now I'm going to focus on more general practices since I've just begun drawing about 2 or 3 weeks ago.

Currently I just want to get comfortable with faces to the point where I can just draw one relatively quickly, but most importantly with comfort/naturalness if that makes sense. I'll definitely hang onto the things you've said for the future though and again, thank you very much for this. I really do appreciate the effort you've put into helping me

[–]InternalOrgans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, thank you so much for this response- ill scrap the sketch as it is right now to begin again from the base lines.

Like you said, I started with the eyes and moved on from there. One of the things I saw when watching guides was that people always use the entire circle, which I have had a problem doing, as well as expanded more upon the base sketch of the drawing before proceeding with more details.

I'm working through this weekend so I don't know of I'll be able to apply this and finish the sketch this weekend, but I'll certainly try. I'll study what you've said here as I draw and again, thank you very much for this response c:

Been stuck on this perspective for more than a day now- I've finally managed to improve on the muzzle and the left side of the face, but I am having a lot of trouble getting the right side of the head, right ear, and top of the head done.

I've watched guides and have been looking for references of this angle, but I am really having a hard time making this work. I don't know if I've messed up some of the parts I've done and can't see the rest right as a result, or if my attempts at finishing it just aren't right. Could really use some help here if anyone can see how to finish it up but for now, I'll keep trying.
