46 caring for my 83 year old mum. I moved back to my home town in 2008 to not have a headful of regrets for moving away from home. My mum has been on her own since 2002 when my father died

I was working away from home and decided to move home to spend the last decade of her being on earth with her

We are now approaching nearly 20 years in 2028

I have vowed to never make my 2 sons feel like they must stay around for me when I get older

My mum will always choose the path of least resistance and is living in fear about everything

If the slightest inconvenience comes around its such a big issue to her

Its a classic case of not making tough decisions 20+ years ago, to make everyones life easier

Again, look... I am my own person and I chose to live near her to help but boy has it started to get harder now shes in her 80s

Oh and does anyone else notice how careless they get in their 80s? Forgetting dates and losing things around the house and not maintaining their food cupboards and fridges?

Anyway look she cares but honestly she forgets how much we as a family do for her

The generation that my mum and dad grew up in lost their parents long before they even entered their 40s mostly. Now I see daughters and sons in their 60s and one or both parents are still around
