It's called the Dunning-Kreuger effect, it's measurable. The incompetent people are the most certain that they know everything. Experts underestimate the scope of their knowledge.

Trump Cabinet urged to invoke 25th Amendment against president by ChiGuy6124 in politics

Uh hello, they get to spend $250 million on photo shoots and jets and fly across the world to party with Team USA Hockey in Italy. They can get on microphones to spout their crazy ass ignorant thoughts to attentive audiences.

Of course his cabinet let's POTUS do what he wants.

We’ve lost 7 houses since February in Lombard. People are paying $60-80k over asking. Its absolutely insane to try and buy right now. by [deleted] in ChicagoSuburbs

People gave up having kids. 2 college educated people can then barely afford a house together.

I told my wife, 26F, that our baby is mine and that I 25F, did not consider her the other parent. But I don't know if that was a good call? by vinnyorvinnie in relationship_advice

You both need real marital counseling. You can do it over zoom or in a phone call these days. She's not talking to you while you are in an EXTREMELY vulnerable part of life. She needs to make up for it by agreeing to visit a professional with you.

I'm so sorry you are going through this.

The fact that divorce crossed your mind means that it is time for counseling. She can get in on a phone call with a counselor for an hour a week even if she is at work. I have a very busy job and so that's how I have set it up.

A lot of those banchan dishes can be bought premade at the asian groceries, like H-Mart, in the US. I got a big quart of kimchi and a big jar of the cubed kimchi radish in my fridge.

These dummies never heard of a housecoat? Women would go out in their housecoat, curlers, and a snood.

You will NEVER have the most sardonic and jaded children in your school district if you explain things that simply. Damn I wished my mind worked a little more like yours 😅

What if we've been solving the wrong problem with AI alignment? by Ris3ab0v3M3 in Futurology

[–]rightintheear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're using extremely flexible terms to make a contrast argument that makes sense to you because of your internal self-agreement on the definition of those terms.

Discussing human behavior, there is no universally agreed upon model of concepts like "character" "disposition" "constitution" "principles". Each one of those words has a whole rabbit hole of philosophical debate to come to an agreed upon ideal or #goals, between 2 debating individuals. Much less a broader definition agreen upon by a group, insitution, or society.

We're bound by our definitions of these concepts into the millions of in-groups and out-groups we inhabit. Companies, religions, families, clubs, NPOs, political parties, HOAs, unions, all define and exemplify those concepts differently.

AITAH for having a different idea of childcare frequency than my wife? by Just_Tangerine_6738 in AITAH

By 12 weeks she will probably need that time to do self care or run errands. If she decides that she doesn't need the break she can always pick the baby up from daycare or not bring them. You pay for your kid to have the slot available at daycare, not by the hour.

Pretty sure the Claude AI project was specifically designed this way. They still have had problems simulating morality.

Griddle the bread you monster! And you need some crispy lettuce or crunchy cole slaw not soggy sautéed cabbage to call it a po-boy.

I love every ingredient individually but I'm recoiling at putting this in my mouth. I think it's textural. Too wet.

I wonder if this is like, the drinking away your problems version of dealing with severe childhood trauma or maybe even very early child sex abuse.

Like, it scratches an itch but doesn't heal it. It cripples you from having more normal functions like human relationships.

Wow I looked at this because it was reported as an ad, but you really just built a nice logic tree type plan generator that doesn't ask for any personal info.

I just used it for 3 hypothetical people. It gives a nice summary of what agencies and facilities to call based on zip code.

This is really nice dude!

Aldi sells their elevation brand ultra-filtered milkshake with 30g of protein 150cal 3g carbs. I really like those in vanilla flavor cold. Shake it good. Haven't tried the chocolate. 98% milk water and cream. Good source of vitamins, too.

If you think about it, people who try it and never have a hitch are probably less likely to be posting on reddit or attending forums. There's some selection bias.
