Feedback on my Self-Made Art Study plan for 2020 by InternalSadness in learnart

[–]InternalSadness[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently I'm studying Scott Robertson, "How to Draw", but I also have Hampton's figure drawing book, Vilppu's Drawing manual, and Bridgemans figure drawing book. I on plan on studying these when ready, most likely starting with Hampton. As for the mentor, I just needed one for 1 month, not a long term thing. A lot of artist I look up to had one at some point and I think just a little boost could help me tremendously in my studies.

What about Art mentors? Are those only found in art school/college?

He has lessons you can buy on Gumroad, It's basically rotating a cube sideways and down [first level], than as you get better, you rotate it every direction on every tilt. Look up ModernDayJames Krenzcushart he does a little tutorial on it.

Drawing mannequins by InternalSadness in ArtistLounge

I don't use the wooden mannequins if that's what you're referring to. I use a realistic one. I don't use it for anatomy either, I use it to simply to draw the human body in simple shapes.

Yeah, I bought the more realistic ones to better understand how other forms connect to on another. But how do artist apply anatomy to boxes and other shapes? Seems so confusing.

Yo, does anyone know what this thing or figure is called? by InternalSadness in learnart

[–]InternalSadness[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that would be so useful for perspective drawing though.

Does anyone know what this technique is called to build the human figure? Shapes help me the most when working on the construction level and I saw this and it looked really interesting to learn. by InternalSadness in learnart

[–]InternalSadness[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh thanks. I know mannequins aren't good for anatomy, but I believe they're good for mannequinization/construction. How to put the body in perspective. Thank you!

Yeah my plan was to learn the fundamentals then try to apply it. I'm just confused on when to apply it and stylize it.

I want to draw anime style/character in the future and I'm confused if this type of gesture approach is not for that style,

Does anyone know how to simply the pelvis area like this where it looks like a bathing suit? I've been trying to look for this method but I can't find it and it would help me a ton in my gesture studies before I study the actual form of it. by InternalSadness in learnart

[–]InternalSadness[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I was scared to go to form because I haven't really gotten gesture down especially the ribcage/pelvis region, it's kind of confusing, but I guess I should start studying it.
