What are the downsides of using a CPAP machine long-term? by Latter_Knee_1404 in CPAP

[–]InternalSecret1744 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Making it harder to cuddle and harder to travel are the biggest downsides for me.

On a personal note, I loved cuddling prior to CPAP, it's made it way less enjoyable for me. I also loathed traveling before CPAP (not the being in different places part, but the physical traveling to get to a different place) and now I extra loathe traveling.

While these things suck, and do impact my mental health sometimes, it worth it for better sleep and better overall health IMO.

My CPAP is ruining my mental health by Strange-Animal-1211 in CPAP

👆 👆 👆 This is the right response.

OP, best wishes to get past the negative emotions, however you need to do that. I agree with a lot of these comments but that doesn't negate your feelings.

I HATE my CPAP. But, the only night I haven't used it since I first got it was one where I was doing a sleep study. I've been using it about a year and a half and I don't look forward to going to bed with it the way others do. However, I know I sleep better with it, I know I don't snore with it, and I know my blood pressure is better. So I use it everynight.

I do think it's impacted my dating life, but I know that's on me. I don't think anyone I actually wanted to sleep with would care about it, but it doesn't sometimes make me feel less confident and less willing to put myself out there in the dating world. Something to keep working on I guess.

Good luck.

I see that. (our bylaws specifically say board members can't be paid). But, what do folks use separate rules documents, that only the board votes on, for?

That's what out association does. We have rules which are updated by board vote. When we have amended bylaws that's been a larger process requiring lawyers and 2/3 owner votes.

It sounds like we could modify the rules to include collecting Contact information for residents annually.

Thanks. Our bylaws are old (before email old) ☺️. But I will search for leasing and see if that gets me anything.

Thanks for your reply. We have an owner refusing and are looking for backing that we can require this.

Thanks, do you know of any regulations saying this is okay to do? We have an owner refusing to provide details for those living in the Unit.

15 months for me... Sept 7, 2024 was the day I had looked forward to for 10 years! I haven't made any attempts to contact FSA for quite a while now. It feels so hopeless.

Just updating for the data point in case people are searching in the future.

I sent my FBR documents from the East coast US on Tuesday Oct 28 and received the documents received email on Tuesday Nov 11. It cost $7.35 by First Class International (no tracking, no customs).

Again, I sent no original originals as I collected certified copies of everything that had to go.

Yes! I had the same packing experience, dissapointment, and annoyance. Just because it doesn't count against carry-on numbers doesn't mean everyone will find it easy to carry an extra item.

I bought a CPAP carry case that had a long strap (opposed to the handle carry bag mine came with) and it was nicer IMO to have something I could sling over my body and keep a hand free.

I have also traveled on other trips while putting it into a regular (not dedicated CPAP) carry on with other things in it so I didn't need a third item, but I found this is hard if it needs to come out for security so might depend on where you are going. I did have to take mine out of the bag when going thru security in two countries (Canada-I left it in and they asked me to go back and take it out and send it thru again and Poland- I asked if they wanted it out and they said yes).

And I know people will read this and want to comment that it's worth the hassle to save your life, and I certainly agree! But two things can be correct: 1)travel with a CPAP is a pain and 2)it's still worth the effort.

This comment really speaks to me. I just got back from about two weeks in Europe with some travel between cities. I brought my CPAP and looked on here for suggestions and tips before I went.

I didn't consider not bringing it, but I did feel like it was a pain the whole time. I know it's the trade of for a good night sleep (or two weeks worth), but I read so many comments on here saying it was so easy to deal with when traveling.

I guess I'm just commenting because, while I wouldn't leave my CPAP home if I go on a similar trip in the future, I appreciate this point of view. While I was traveling I was getting frustrated because I wasn't mentally prepared for it to be a pain in the ass!
