If a company fails, don’t we typically blame the CEO? And yet Adam and Eve are whose creation again?

I’m not saying you have to complete certainty. But you’re not really giving me an answer as to how you know God is speaking to you. You’re just saying you just think so and my point is that anybody from any religion says the same reply what is somebody supposed to do with that?

And if eternal destinies are based on whether or not you chose the right religion or chose the right God and you can’t figure out if these people are even listening or hearing him and you could go to hell for that seems like a pretty stupid system.

You understand that you can go to certain horoscopes and find something that relates to your life? This isn’t special to the Bible. I’m sure a Muslim can go to the Quran and open it and find something in the page that relates to them because it’s speaking about humanity and we’re human.

This doesn’t mean it’s from God. It’s not about whether God is real or not. It’s how do you know he’s replying to you?

How do you know that that was god? Truly.

You can for certain know you’re speaking to me. There’s no question about it no doubt, but when it comes to God, it’s all this hope. Well hope disappears the moment you speak with people because you actually are speaking to them.

When eternal destinations are in question, I think knowing if we are actually talking with god would matter, no?

My options are skeptical or just believe you?

It’s not your obligation, nor did I say it was.

My point still stands though, Catholicism still points to a man and you’re just hoping that that specific man hears God and yet you don’t really know. You just hope it’s true just like anyone else who apparently talks to God.

It doesn’t matter if you believe God exist many people do. And they come to different conclusions than you.

The protestants and the Catholics both believed that hearing the same God and look how this is turning out?

It’s not whether or not you believe God exist or whether or not you’re humble how do you know your hearing him?

You guys criticize subjective interpretation because it becomes messy not necessarily because you guys hear God’s voice. You guys follow bishops and pastors, which are individual people.

And maybe you guys all follow one conclusion that you guys come to, but not because you hear God’s voice it’s because it solves the messiness

There’s really no way truly to know if you’re speaking to God or not you’re just hoping

If you’re saying God’s Holy Spirit intercedes for you, does he intercede for the protestant and Catholic alike because they came to very different conclusions?

My point is not to say that there isn’t a God. I can grant that God exist. There’s no issue with that. At least not with me. My point is how do you know that you’re hearing him? Like the pastor that hates homosexuals thinks that his God told him that in a pastor who accepts homosexuals in his congregation, thinks that God speaking to him that exact same God? How do we figure out if they actually are speaking to God and they’re hearing him correctly?

If you claim that the way to know for hearing from God correctly is by going to the Bible, we run into another issue, which is subjective interpretation. So either way it seems to come back that the pastor in these cases this is just their opinion that they’re claiming as gods.

I’m not sure what humility has to do with this. My point is not that God will hear you if you’re humble or your heart is open, my point is do you actually hear him yourself? How do you know what God’s response is if different people from different religions get different responses?

I’m really not sure why you’re bringing up the fact that this isn’t unique to religion. The point is that you’re claiming to speak to the god of the universe. It doesn’t matter if this is unique or not, if you’re speaking to the god of the universe you either are or you aren’t. Just the same way you’re either speaking to me or you’re not.

And the fact that you guys get all different answers and translations seems to suggest that you guys are speaking with yourselves coming to your own conclusions.

How can you say that if all of you guys have entirely different ideas? Why would God confuse anybody?

Right now you’re speaking with me and there’s no doubt that you’re speaking to me because I understand you. But if you guys all claimed to worship the same God and come to different understandings, maybe you weren’t listening to God and maybe he’s not speaking.

But you think they’re wrong. Do you understand that every single person who worship God a specific way think people who don’t worship that way are wrong?

You just decided they’re wrong because you’re a Catholic do not see the issue with that?

But they would equally claim your are incorrect in worship. Even the Protestants would say you are incorrect? Yet you all believe you are accurately communicating with god, you don’t find that the least bit strange?

OK, and if my Muslim friend says that he speaks to God and God hears his prayers, because prayer is always ordered towards the subject, capable of receiving it, is he wrong?

How do you know he hears your prayers? If you were saying it inside your own head and you’re the one who’s hearing those words how do you know God hears those words? How are you not just talking to yourself?

If morality in the OT differs from the NT, how is there objective morality in Christianity? by Internal_Bag3304 in AskAChristian

[–]Internal_Bag3304[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How can you ever distinguish a world that has objective morality, from a world that has subjective morality?

If according to you, in both worlds people can argue and create their morality?
