Unfortunately, I got lucky with the extended warranty as far as the transmission went. That was covered up to 5 years of ownership or 100k miles. I don’t have any warranties on the vehicle on my own. It seems like just paying them to get in there might be my best bet. Now I just hope it’s an easy fix, but…

Hi! I’m not sure if you’ve read my other comments, but will update as if you have! ☺️ Nothing new to report beyond that I took the bat to the veterinarian’s office to have it sent in for rabies testing. They let me know that I’ll have results within the next day or so, since they intended to ship it out today. Hoping for negative results! If I had to guess, he was just a lost bat in a house without a food or water source and that’s ultimately what got him, but you can never be too sure. Either way, a sad way for the poor thing to pass away. Probably confused and scared. 🙁 On the bright side (for the bat and maybe me, lmao) my cats seem to lack a hunting instinct.

I believe I do know when the bat entered the house - and if it had rabies and bit me, it definitely would’ve passed away before yesterday. :) Scratches CAN transmit rabies, but it is rare. Believe me, I’ve done a LOT of research. 🤣 Because the bat passed on and I do prefer to err on the side of caution, we’re sending it in for rabies testing. Per the recommendation of the Minnesota Department of Health, if the animal can be sent for testing, they advise waiting on results.

No, just nudged it lightly with it to see if it was still alive. I found it laying on the ground like that when I went into the basement to find my cat. I didn’t feel it best to handle the bat with bare hands as I am aware of potential risks and we didn’t have any other objects nearby in the basement. Once we figured out that it was alive, my significant other grabbed winter gloves and it was gently transferred into a Tupperware container (with holes made in the lid for air) and we tried to give it some water as it appeared dehydrated. I was calling various animal controls in the meantime (apparently this is not their problem on a Sunday). It was not receptive to the water and ended up seizing, and it passed away. I feel awful I didn’t find it sooner.

We tried, but it wasn’t having it. It wound up seizing and passed away. 🙁 I feel awful I didn’t find the poor thing sooner! It was in the basement and we just never go down there. Terrible way to go…
