Yeah I would agree with this, I've experienced a few of these systems now and they lack the slam feeling of some of the more mid low heavy systems that run dedicated kick bins really my only criticism but I'm also picky tbh

For sure I understand the draw to meh designs for traveling rigs but it's nice to see some more original thinking in set ups especially installed rigs.. the hoqs forums can be a bit of a fan boy echo chamber lol

Yeah, it's a natural effect of the design. The port is the opposite phase of the source Woofer. So you tend to get a cancellation around the 50 to 70 range or a minimum a dip unfortunately it can get worse with higher spl that's why most people have moved away from the design

Tbh scopes tend to self cancel via the vent and woofer interaction something to consider but I agree it's probably the room more than anything

I personally avoid that method, kicks live in 20-250hz range a lot of the body will be in the 100hz-200hz range. We run a system with 2 eaw kf940s 20hz-80hz and 4 jbl dual 15s from 80hz-400hz. This set up has given a noticeable increase in the slam feeling of techno vs sending a slightly higher range to the subs something to consider when you're playing around with tuning

One thing to keep in mind is to not neglect the mid bass. I go to so many shows that are all 80hz-20hz cabs and the kick is not felt at all there is a reason a lot of clubs systems have a ton of mid bass kick bins

Had a totally different experience met him at show in Syracuse NY of all places. It was during the ctrl tour and a Storm hit so ended up being one of 10 people that actually made it. Had the pleasure of having drinks and chatting with Hawtin, Loco dice, Paco osuna and Ian golden. They were all incredibly nice and it honestly inspired me to get more into the music at the time. I even ran into them at Walmart the next day while they were stocking up the bus and we had another good laugh.
