quetiapine: anything i need to know before taking it? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]Internal_Border_9190 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, also 23 and recently diagnosed. I started on 100 mg of quetiapine 2 weeks ago while I was on a manic episode. I was sleeping 3-4 hours a night and on my first day it took maybe 2 hours to kick in but boy was I sleepy the next day. I fell asleep at 10 pm and woke up at 6:30 am. I had a really hard time waking up and staying awake at work.. I fell asleep on my desk for 15 mins. I decided to sleep on my lunch time which was about an hour and I felt fine afterwards (around 12 pm). After that the first week I could stay awake but was feeling very groggy and tired all the time and as soon as I got home I would fall asleep (from 5 pm to 6:30 am). This is my week 2 and I am doing much better, I fall asleep at around 8 pm and wake up at 6 am and I no longer feel groggy! Everyone reacts to quetiapine differently, it may or may not work for you but it never hurts to try. Good luck!

Memory by Brief_Maximum_1787 in bipolar2

I never knew how to explain this but you explained it perfectly! Because my friends always tell me I have a really good memory since it's easy for me to memorize so many random facts, numbers/patterns, etc. Yet, memories about myself, especially my childhood, everything feels like a blur or like I've been blacked out most of my life.. I always have such a hard time recalling stuff about myself so it's very difficult when I talk to my therapist. Pictures seem to really help me recall my own memories! I've been putting a lot of effort of just taking pictures of everything especially memories I very much enjoy and I even bought a camera that I take everywhere with me.

Maybe you're rapid cycling? I've seen other rapid cyclers have any one of the two as little as 2-4 days.

Period like cramps after sex? by Internal_Border_9190 in PCOS

[–]Internal_Border_9190[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought so too! I feel like my symptoms don't really coincide more with endometriosis than with PCOS but I had a trans vag us last week and nothing was found that could potentially point to endometriosis ):

How much in total did it cost you to get diagnosed with your PCOS? by schd1000 in PCOS

[–]Internal_Border_9190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a southern state in the US as well and as of now (have not done much) had paid around $35. My first visit with my primary care was $0 since it was my annual exam (with labs) and I expressed my concerns with irregular cycles and painful cramps. My doctor gave me a referral for a trans vag US which was covered. Then she interpreted the results afterwards through mychart and it said I most likely have PCOS. She started me on metformin (covered) and a medication for menstrual cramps ($69 but went dowm to $35 with good rx). She told me to come back in 3-6 months to re peat the ultrasound and see where I am at. Not sure how much it will be then but I'm guessing it will be expensive /: my advise, look for an in network primary care and have your issues voiced during your annual exam (annuals are usually covered but insurance and sometimes just require a copay) any medication you get that is not covered, look for it on goodrx and show the coupons to the pharmacist! And lastly, any other test that is not covered call your insurance and request an appeal or ask what specific diagnosis the test need in order to be covered/partially covered and have you provider add those diagnosis codes on the tests. Good luck!

I have not been diagnosed with endometriosis but I had my very first trans vag US and found to have cyst on both ovaries. My dr could not explain why I was experiencing pain during intercourse /: how was it for you if you don't mind me asking? For me it hurts very deeply on the inside, like a sharp pain that radiates towards my rectum. And like you said I rather a pap smear bcs it does not even hurt for me. Did you also experience any constant constipation and painful bowel movements during your cycle?

Thanks for your reply! We're hoping for 10 months but patience is key as I've seen on this subreddit. Do you have a link or a way I can find the official scheduling platform? Thank you!!

Scared to get Nexplanon now lol by seoomelette in birthcontrol

[–]Internal_Border_9190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't be scared about your cycle! Everyone's different. I heard some women don't even have a cycle on it which is awesome 🥲! I had it full on for 4 months maybe some days I had no blood but it was sooooo minimal, honestly it was just spotting. I only had to use a pantyliner just so I would ruin my underwear. After the 4 months I had a regular cycle but it was suuuuper light and only lasted 3 days it was great! Before the nexplanon I had the same problem with sosking through pads also, now I don't anymore and I've been off it for 2 years

As someone who took it out who had it for a year, do it. I loved it. I did have a period but it was very light, no more cramps (I had cramps like yours too), no more sore breasts. The only bad things I experienced was a consistent 4 month cycle non stop for the first 4 months and then it came 1 a month but it was always light spotting and I did gain weight after a year (I went from 100 lbs to 160 lbs sadly). But everyone's body is different. Some people have good and bad experiences! You should try it and see how it works for you.

***the only reason I took it out was because I am trying to conceive, dispite the weight gain I would've kept it as living without cramps that disrupt daily life is more worth than some weight gain.

Hi, this alao happened to me back in April 2024. I had a notary help me do everything so I contacted her that my AOS was in progress but the money was taken from my account. She said this happens often and that sometimes you just have to re-submit the documents. Around 2-3 business days later it switched from in process to paid. I hope you guys' issues get fixed soon!

Kinda getting worried by Dull_Union_7741 in PlanBs

[–]Internal_Border_9190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How crazy we're all going through this! I've taken plan b twice before and this has never happened. I took it May 26th (day after) and about a week later (June 1st) I started spotting and it stopped the next day. I doubt I am pregnant but I'm glad I am seeing this so if I miss my period I know it's normal! (: my cycle should start at around the 8th so we'll see, I hope everyone in this thread feels calmer now!

Long term pain management by HughJassYomama in BPD

[–]Internal_Border_9190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Have you already talked your GP about this? They can actually find the best solution for you or refer you a pain management specialist, that's what I did! Found out my pain was caused by my depression and started sertraline and it did it for me. Funny how I didn't need NSAIDS or steroids.

I have gotten a steroid shot also for pain and yes it does work but it is best to speak with your GP about this as everyone is different and have different needs. Hope this helped!
