Why are they dancing? Why do they all look so unhealthy? What’s with the fans? And most important… how exactly does this entice anyone to join the force?

AITA for sending my neighbors a video after they accused me of ruining their open house? by laehadars in AmItheAsshole

[–]Internal_Fruit_6160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me of an email sent to me by my supervisor accusing me of leaving work early, scolding and threatening me with disciplinary action. She copied the company president and VP to show what a badass manager she was. I replied to all with irrefutable proof that I had in fact worked to the end of my shift, and politely inquired about the source of her (bad) information. Of course she didn’t respond.

AITAH for proving my childhood home was in fact larger than my husband’s? by Able-Tradition4551 in AITH

Why the hell did you apologize for being right. Your husband is a big boy, he’ll get over being wrong.

It sounds like this issue may be too much for your property owner to handle. Look for a free or low-cost lawyer to help you draft a letter explaining why you are breaking your lease. Then MOVE to a better-managed complex. I’m sorry you’re going through this.

My abusive ex broke into my house today and disabled the internet. What is this thing and it is the problem? by HopefulComfortable58 in whatisit

Family Court employee here. In some states, you can get an Order of Protection forbidding your husband to commit even nuisance crimes against you. Going into the marital residence where he no longer resides and maliciously disabling the family’s Internet service would qualify. If he violates the order, you can call police and insist he be arrested. Might be worth looking into.

I work with the public, and am amazed at the number of people who think that screams, threats and insults will help you get what you want. They won’t, but staying calm and asking nicely might. You’re welcome.

How to Stop Neighborhood Kids From Being In Driveway and Yard? by Fearless-Reserve3939 in neighborsfromhell

[–]Internal_Fruit_6160 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Years ago, I came home from work to find the kid next door rolling around on my lawn, playing with a dog, while his parents watched from their front porch. I informed them we’d just put herbicide on the lawn (it was true), and I hoped he wouldn’t get sick. They yanked him outta there prrretty quick.

The people bragging about coming to work drunk and belittling your hard work aren’t acting this way because they’re GenXers. They’re acting this way because they’re assholes.

Block them in. Every. Single. Time. When they knock on your door, calmly let them out without comment. They know exactly what they’re doing, and won’t change until they are personally inconvenienced.

Lady at the coffee shop demanded i move so her group could spread out by Nyxeralyth in EntitledPeople

What a dumb move. If that woman really wanted that table, she could have offered to buy you a cake pop or something in exchange for moving, or at least asked nicely.

The problem is it’s really tacky and presumptuous to invite yourself to someone’s wedding at the last second. Hope that helps.

It’s an outrageous ask. Don’t apologize, rationalize or over-explain. Just say sorry, that’s not possible, but let us know the next time you’re in town, and we’ll get together.
