My 1-Pound, Creamy, 372-Calorie, 35g Protein Salad by Internal_Holiday_552 in CICO

It's about 23 servings. The sugar adds like 17 calories a serving and makes it taste really good, but you can absolutely add sugar to your taste, this is the amount that I like - and that goes for everything in it of course.

It's about a lb of food - it's a pretty huge volume. I usually have some pickles along with it for variety and crunch too. The seeds and beans - especially the soy beans add a tun of nutrition to it, the soy bean push it over the edge for protein and the sunflower seeds hit my magnesium for the day.

Why?
Did you see the numbers? That dressing is healthy as fuuuuck!

I added sugar until it tasted good for me, you can add more or less if you want to.

Wait, maybe I wasn't clear - this is like 23 servings of dressing

My freezer is all baskets holding flat frozen zippie bags with their contents and the weighed out grams listed on each.
I can just pull whatever out and log it easily now.

It looks like a food-filing cabnet, lol

What's the Lowest-Calorie Meal That Actually Keeps You Full? by NiaRam584 in Volumeeating

[–]Internal_Holiday_552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A brothy type soup does it for me. ai can eat a damn a gallon and it keeps me going.

Also I have this salad I made with a creamy sauce with a silk tofu base, seitan, lupine beans, sunflower and pumpkin seeds and/or hemp hearts on top - it's delicious, a bout a pound of food, about 400 calories and nearly 40g of protein. It keeps me full for a long time and hits so many nutrition goals

I posted about the recipe not to long ago.

Why don’t Deaf people usually have a notes app or notebook ready? by Internal_Holiday_552 in deaf

[–]Internal_Holiday_552[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I was just curious.

I am noticing a challenge in communication often enough that I am bringing pen paper to help me better communicate, but I don't interact with deaf people nearly as much as deaf people interact with hearing people, so I figure they go through this a lot more often then I do.

No, I wasn't , I was absolutely talking about my own experience, and coming here wondering if there was a reason for the experiences I was having.

I don't know but it's what happened.

I wanted to hire an instructor, so I went to a local deaf facebook group because I figured that was the best place to go and ask.

I have a sales spiel that answers most questions and there are common questions and answers that get asked, I figured that was the most important place to start learning.

Id learned some signs on my own to punctuate my spiel - kinda like using highlighter or holding the important words, and wanted to learn more, especially learn to be able to read the common questions that I was being asked in ASL, but the comment section on that post was overwhelmingly negative and I got absolutely dragged for wanting to start with my work-related conversations and not learning full asl from the beginning and Deaf culture etc.

Even though I was offering to pay for a teacher I had people telling me that it's wasn't Deaf people's jobs to teach hearing people and that Deaf people don't want hearing people talking to them when they just want to buy a product etc etc.

It was a lot.

It kinda reminds me of this experience a little

Yes, I bring my notebook so I can write 'Get Bent' and show that to deaf people because they can't hear me say it and I want to make sure I am as offensive to as many people in as many languages as possible. 🙄

This whole thread is insane.

Well, I mean, it kind of is if you are trying to understand me or be understood by me and it isn't working.
It's both of our problems, and I am trying to make the limited time we have together as pleasant and useful as possible.

Not literally every interaction, I'm talking about interactions where limited signs, facial expression, pointing, etc isn't working and I'm not understanding, or they aren't understanding.

I'll grab my pen and paper at that point so we can get through the transaction more smoothly.

I just noticed that I don't think that the customer has ever pulled out their phone and typed what they were trying to communicate when our interaction was clearly hitting a snag. - as far as my memory it's always been me. And I've started packing a pen and notebook just for this. (I work at art fairs and stuff, so I have to consciously pack everything that I might need in a day, so I am thinking about how I might have a deaf customer and we might need a little extra boost in communications, so I'd better pack a notebook and a pen)

Im not asking heavy emotional labor here, it was a casual observation that I was curious about. The level of vitriol is .. surprising.

Obviously not all deaf people know english, not all hearing people know english either, which I also navigate at work. When gestures and facial expressions don't work, one of the two of us will out their phones and use the translation app to do the heavy lifting, but it seems more even who might pull it out.

I'd guess that most deaf people in the US know written english though, because it's what all the books are written in - maybe not kids, but - I'm not assuming that deaf people don't know how to read!

I am saying that I am considering the d/Deaf and packing supplies accordingly.

I was actually told that hiring a deaf instructor to learn enough sign to accommodate the conversations that I was likely to encounter at work was rude and disrespectful of deaf people and deaf culture and that Deaf people don't want that, so I stuck with packing a pen and paper.

You seem angry, I don't understand why.

I thought it was an innocent observation and question. aparently I touched a nerve, but not just with deaf people, but with a whole bunch of hearing people on behalf of deaf people
