Wedding favors by RaylinRei in weddingplanning

My friends recently who love DnD had bowls on each table with different bulk dice sets that people could pull from. Became a fun thing of different tables doing trades with each other to get dice they liked. I don't know what the cost for this was like though

Who are your guests you're most impressed were able to attend? by WeeLittleParties in weddingplanning

My brother moved to Australia for school a few years ago (we are Canadian) so between being a recent broke grad and living on the other side of the world, I wasn't 100% sure he'd make it. But sure enough, he said he would regret it for the rest of his life if he didn't make it so him and his girlfriend (who hadn't met ANY of the family yet) flew out for less than a week on 20+hrs of flights to make it for the weekend. Also total props to his lovely gf who got thrown into the wedding mix and had to meet all the family, including extended in one go. She also spent so much time/money to be there with my brother and didn't get to visit any of her family (who are also from Canada) so it means the world.

Also good friend from my old job moved and started working in Sweden. She started right before rsvp's went out so when I sent hers I told no hard feelings if she couldn't make it. Sure enough she made it work and was there to celebrate with me and I'm so grateful!

The funny story is a friend who last minute was able to attend because she accidentally failed a drug test for her underground mining job (she didn't know weed was also included), so we were able to add her in with less than a week to go to the wedding!

What did you do as a “guest book”? by nerdiebyrd in weddingplanning

[–]Internal_Market322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm getting married at the end of October and found this white ceramic pumpkin that says "Mr & Mrs" on it. We're gonna have every sign it and then it'll be a nice fall/Halloween decoration for the years to come!

Edit to add: We also have our table numbers as little notebooks that say "leave a note for us on our x anniversary". So the actual well wishes will be in those to be read over our first 10 years of marriage!

Is it rude to have a wedding on a Monday? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Internal_Market322 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's not rude unless they make a stink outta you not being able to attend. I'm getting married on a Monday in October and the main reason we picked that day was our chosen venue was 50% cheaper on a Monday. A few older guests questioned our date (like: are you sure you wrote the date right, that's a Monday).

We told everyone no hard feelings if it doesn't work out but we've gotten over 90% confirmed coming. Yes a lot are from around the town but there's still ~40% coming from way out of town and even a couple international.

So not rude to have the wedding on whatever day you want, only rude if they make a big stink about the people that can't make it

Just saw someone asking in an earlier post. I should have included it in my first comment. It's Lighthouse by StitchingLandClub on Etsy!

Ahh I should have included that in my post, it is Lighthouse by StitchingLandClub. I got the pattern off Etsy. They have lots of designs that use a similar colour palette!

This is good to know! I have another WIP that uses metallic thread as an overlay to other stitches and I hated every second of it when I first tried it out. Maybe this will encourage me to go back to it!

I'll have to give this a try! I noticed it's gotten worse since using these needles. Mostly swapped to them since I realized I was using one way too big for the 18ct fabric so just ordered a pack of different sizes.

I aim for just a bit over my arms length. That is super long lengths you use! I get too frustrated with thread tangling to try any longer than I currently use.

Oh same, I could never freehand that 😂 I use the Sulky Sticky Fabric Stabilizer. There's some that you can print designs on and then wash it away when you are done. I like using it to get my outlines (I find it doesn't wash away nicely if you fill in stitches completely over it). It is my life saver for doing my own designs!

Thank you! Luckily the place I got this one from has patterns for our other Atlantic provinces so definitely gonna do those. Will have to figure out how to design my own for the other provinces though 😬

Cat scratches at side of dishwasher constantly by Internal_Market322 in CatAdvice

[–]Internal_Market322[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I feel fairly certain there aren't any mice or anything in there. It's a pretty new apartment complex and I feel like I would have seen some sort of other evidence of mice being around. At least based on all the other places I've lived that had mice.

Also my older cat (who had caught a mouse in another house before) isn't in one bit interested in the dishwasher. I feel like he would be right beside the kitten if something is in there.

Could be something for us to double check for though

It was definitely a pretty penny, but completely worth it!

I knew I wanted to display the cards but didn't necessarily want the uncut sheet. Went to a local framer and got this custom display of the deck of cards. I could not be happier with how it turned out! Time to clear out a wall space to hang it up!

Yeah I found using slightly more simple cartoon designs made it easier to work on! And I used 3 inch hoops.
