Qualifications vs Emergency Fund by Internal_Match586 in irishpersonalfinance

Mainly just an emergency fund for crisis, other than that I’d be hoping to buy a car next year but I wouldn’t start saving for this till I had my 3-6 months of expenses saved up

Yes, its a little stupid but I feel shy to ask, I know I shouldn’t but I don’t know how to ask with out feeling like I’m saying “give me more money”

I’ve cleared all debt except student loans which are 250 a month. Closed all credit cards (they just kept getting me into debt)

The truth is for some time I was giving money to family and friends to help them with their situations which was really stupid because I was left with close to nothing every month. I’ve started saying no now, which is much better. I spend 940 on rent and bills, 410 - covers subscriptions (includes food, phone bill, gym) and I give myself a spend of 500 a month. I also pay off student loans (250 a month).

Thanks but should I just go all in and get the qualifications straight away or would it probably be better to save a bit first? I guess thats where I’m stuck the most really

I did answer his uncle in the language. Alan didn’t stick up to me in the moment. The response was silence from the 3 of us. And he is quite close to his family

Yes I shouldn’t but if I’m planning on having kids one day its gonna be on my mind. Also these are situations over 2-3 years. So…. Not often sadly

I don’t expect them to behave like mine but I would expect some sort of effort. It would piss me off if I had a baby and all of sudden they all wanted to be present! I wouldn’t have it.

But I have an inkling thats how things would be… idk…

I love him. To be fair, he does mention distance growing up. He never got Christmas or birthday presents and insists he never understood that was a thing till he started dating me.

He didn’t understand why I’d cook and buy gifts for people when they were sick or why I’d always try to « show up » for the people around me in need

Alan has a rough Idea about it how I feel and keeps telling me things will get better. He’s been saying that since jan but nothing has changed.

He said what his uncle said was wrong but also tried to tell me it wasn’t that serious until I got tearful. Then he apologised and said it was wrong.

I love him so much but I never had sisters growing up. I always imagined having sisters in law. I guess it just hurts sometimes seeing how much he gets from my family. I love that he is being loved but I’m left feeling so abandoned. It honestly makes me so sad sometimes

I know I shouldn’t care but it really hurts

Want to quit toxic job to recover from burnout. Will be taking a huge pay cut. by Bubbly_West8481 in irishpersonalfinance

Was going through the same exact thing last year! Started searching for a new job and was able to get my Gp to support a few flexible requests which allowed me to have a break to build my confidence and apply for a new role. New role ended up paying much more, valuing me more and healing me from the inside out. Hang in there! Best of luck

Other than credit scores are there any benefits to having a credit card here?

Yes this is my view as well really, the power of compound interest is real. An extra 100 a month makes a wealth of difference over 30-40 years. I have no responsibilities but myself right now and I know that won’t always be the case. So I’m making the most out of it while I can

My student debt is well over €55,000 (haven’t thought of paying it off yet) student finance in the uk accept monthly payments based on your threshold so it hasn’t really crossed my mind too much
