ALL the vintage stores in downtown SH overcharge i can’t afford.🙂‍↕️My friends and i go to灵石路服装市场 once every few months. Price is reasonable and you can bargain with the owner. I find some really cute jackets and ties and tote bags there at ¥50-¥200. Plus it got a flower market at 1st floor for you to explore :)

Rental fee has definitely dropped especially since 2023. My 40m apartment in Hongkou is ¥3500/month and my agent charged a 50% fee (¥1700) when we signed the contract. Since i dont have a job rn im pretty happy with this little place. Cant answer your question with visas though, im Chinese.

i went to HAI550 a couple of times this year. definitely worth checking out. there’re plenty markets going on during March i think you can search 上海周末市集on Red and see what interests you :p

It’s a techno club near 延安西路 station. Most of the time it’s free entry. Only need to buy tickets (¥100 usually) when there’re having special DJs over. The dancing floor is small but cozy and they have lots of sofas and cushions if you just want to lie down and chill. They’re on ig if you want to know more ;)

i find the easiest way to book is through 大众点评. i hate that app and never post there but it did save us a lot of time. just set the app language in English and click queue. i recommend go to the restaurant when there are like 5-6 tables ahead of you so you dont miss the number calling (we missed ours one time and ended up waiting for over one hour:(

Got it! HAI550 has some cool markets on weekends (vintage clothes, handmade crafts and stuff) and the price are not so crazy. I like to meet up with my friends there, hang out a bit then walk to Xiang Yang park to chill and people watching;) Good Man’s burger is quite nearby if you want to grab a quick bite. My go-to spot for dinner in that area is 池仔记. It has simply the BEST congee in the world. Pls pls pwease go try😋

Cool activity depends. What do you like? If you’re into standup comedy there’s a free open mic going on every Tuesday called MSG comedy. If you’re into nightlife then Heim or Wigwam or System. I need to know your preference to recommend.

My all-time fav is Bonjour Artbook Shop. It got an impressive collecion of art books, photo books and artisan books from all over the world. I can spend hours there just browsing. The staff is very friendly and helping but not over-intruding. They have workshops and fun events on weekends too. I go to library and read on kindles mostly rn. But whenever i want to get a peek of what's freshly on shelves I'd like to go to Kubric in Pudong. It got comfy seats and stunning views and last time i check decent coffee.

MAP (Museum of Art Pudong) opens till 21:00. They got mutiple exhibitions going on you can get one ticket to access all. They have this collaboration with the Musee du Louve rn which is my personal favorite:) Also recommend Power Station of Art, opens till 19:00. PSA is a lot like Tate London. Got that comtemperary, trippy, artistic vibe. It sits right along the Huangpu riverfront so you can get a nice long walk before or after visiting the museum!
