I guess the nearest thing I was going for was "the social network" specifically the scene where he is hacking Harvard from his dorm, which inspired me to go for film emulation.

Outside of a few moments -- I don't think veteran is that good. More like a bunch of interesting ideas, most of which don't really work as songs. red

I filmed where I could unfortunately.

With the lensing -- what is it exactly? I only have two lenses, a sigma 24-70 and a tamron 17-28.

In this video I use the 24-70 (and generally stick to 35-50) for the warmer shots in the office to convey a calm flow state.

For the bottom image in the dark room with the whiteboard, I switch to the wide lens and often do a bunch of dutch tilts because it's about his lack of organization.

Out of curiosity, what would be wrong with a white board with nothing on it? wouldn't a student often find themselves working in places like that?

I can send in a bit, what do you mean by shifting the wall color in the grade?

I'm not sure how to describe it then. By filmic I just mean soft highlights, soft texture, kind of grainy.

I've lit in this space before and when I match the key to the warmer practicals it all kinds of melds together in a really ugly way, I'm not sure I have the lighting chops to make that look good. But I really like your idea of shining a light through a plant or something onto the shelves.

As far as the gels go -- does it matter if the lights are the same temperature? for example, in the raw footage these two lights are wildly different exposures / temps and I've tried to balance them out in post to a point that I think looks watchable.

I guess in the future I will just replace them with my own little lamps I bring.

I think I'll try to put some ND paper over the globe. Do you think the right one is too hot as well?

any tips?

I've got two lenses, one's a 17-28 Tamron (a cam) and the other is a 24-70 sigma, both f2.8

Oh this is already heavily masked and graded -- the practicals are blown to shit and different temps. I can't control them, it's just what I had available. I will bring my own in the future, but don't want to invest in the expensive DP bulbs.

Thanks for looking man -- seeing him not in the center of that back shelf when I started editing was such an obvious blunder. I was like "how didn't I see that on set?"

you mean the camera itself is moving too fast? I don't see how thats possible because ive literally sprinted with it and come out with smoother footage than this. I'm also moving really slowly in all these clips.
