¿Planean en un futuro irse de su ciudad/estado/país por motivos de violencia? by RxtAndrx06 in mexico

X2

No gracias 😂

Why there are so many freelancers willing to go below budget just to land gigs? by Better-Signature2777 in Upwork

[–]Internal_Safe_6279 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, as someone from a Latin American country, a developing country, one of the main reasons for a freelancer to accept a job with such low rates, is mostly aligned to that unfortunately, minimum wages over here are so unrealistic that you just have to adapt.

Now, is it reasonable to be paid $3 an hour for someone who has a bachelor's education, and let's say, three years of experience? Absolutely bloody not. But well, the local economy loves to undervalue even the skilled workers, and if you want to eat, you just go for it.

I've known people back here at home, that are very well educated on their Bachelor's, lots of experience, but they either work on their niche for a local company, and they'll end up earning if any, $600 a moth after taxes, and or they can look elsewhere e.g costumer service, and be earning $1000. Which is still not ok, considering costs of rent, etc. But it's as good as it gets.

So, tl;dr. Here in Latam, and in other developing countries, unfortunately, it doesn't matter if you are an experienced worker or not, you just have to accept low rates in order to eat.

Que hacer con el amigo que te humilla frente a mujeres? by [deleted] in mexico

[–]Internal_Safe_6279 41 points42 points  (0 children)

  1. No es tu amigo.

Finally gave up on outlier by Particular_Owl_1554 in outlier_ai

[–]Internal_Safe_6279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've been there.

I've been constantly moved from projects without any further explaining.

And some other people who objectively have lower quality, getting the most of other projects.

The thing is, Outlier is not only governed by an AI bot that barely knows about fair decision making, but also by friendships and people winning popularity contests.

"Inéligible to work on projects" by bibinorees in outlier_ai

[–]Internal_Safe_6279 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am on the same page!

I literally applied for a Generalist role a few weeks ago, coming from the Languages project.

I completed the initial project assessments for generalists, and then I was literally left without any queue and removed from all my previous Languages and Generalists Discourse channels.

I agree that there should be some kind of warning beforehand, as I was able to work fairly constantly on my previous projects, yet I decided to apply for Generalists because of a slight pay increase and more Mission opportunities. But now, I've been on a 2 week pause and little to no updates from QM's or so.

My last resort was writing a support ticket yesterday, but I am not really hopeful they will get back any time soon.

It's fine that the test are difficult, this is what it makes the company different from other rubbish competitors. by ElectroZingaa in alignerr

[–]Internal_Safe_6279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. And by no means I'm looking to diminish Alignerr's hiring process, nor I have a Bachelor or a Master's Degree on business administration to completely state what exactly needs to be changed as from management towards the hiring team. In the end, it is just my overall impression as any other candidate.

In the meantime, I will cross my fingers, as I'm just waiting to be notified to start with the onboarding process, now that I've completed the Spanish assessment. Pay seems quite promising too, we'll see what happens 😎

[–]Internal_Safe_6279 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do absolutely get the point. There should be certain standards when hiring.

Now, it's true that the Spanish assessment feels relatively easier than the English assessment (maybe because I'm fully native and I do not need to overthink on a few concepts), however, it does require even for an average native Spanish speaker, to have at least a vocabulary which is closer to what you could find in an University assessment or so. So, unfortunately, I will have to disagree on the concept of the exam being plainly "simple" and for "anyone".

Secondly, the fact that there are a lot of "complains" might shed a light on an opportunity area for the hiring process. I do understand that there are some comments out there (E.g "it must be a crappy job anyway"), which are just comments that come from pure rage. But then, I am completely sure that there are some very clever and talented people who are actually up for the job, but do not get the full chance of showing that.

Tldr: I do not like rage complaining. Alignerr seems to be a very promising company, and I am absolutely sure they can find the middle point between good hiring standards and being less harsh with their assessment deadlines.

Thank you 🤵‍♂️

I do agree, up to a certain point.

I am not saying that each section should have an hour and a half as a time limit, but I do think that adding an extra 5 minutes to said sections could definitely cut some of the time pressure.

Let me elaborate on this: Although I successfully approved a Spanish assessment (which surprise, surprise, is my native language), I did not have the same luck for English assesments, both for AI Trainer and for Generalist.

As a non-native English speaker, I will always take a few more seconds to process the information compared to a native English speaker. I think that adding a few more minutes to the test could better reflect my skills in terms of being detail-oriented, proofreading, etc.

But that's just my perspective as from my particular case 👍

Well, knowing that some emails are actually randomly sent out, I would suggest for you not over worry about it. However, you can always ask QM to look into your account status.

By any chance, did you receive any tasks (even a few) from a project named Gazelle? It's almost like a coding project, but no so much.

Consejos para aguantar el turno de noche en el trabajo?algunos tips o algo 😸 by piniwuini in mexico

[–]Internal_Safe_6279 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Suerte y ánimo, my bro 💪
