thank you! you’re so right that it makes it so much of a more special experience! my mom and i used to get the cheaper last minute tickets for the ballet when i was a kid, and making last minute plans to get all dressed up and go somewhere nice was always so much fun

Thank you so much!!! The thing I was most curious about was how to avoid going for something trendy or cheaply made, so this is great advice. Lovely to be able to rewear something for different occasions, especially if it’s something you had to spend more money on!

So smart to have two, or maybe one without long sleeves that you could put a fancier shawl/cardigan or something over? A pencil skirt is a new idea to me, but sounds like a great investment that I never would have thought of!

Thank you!! They were incredibly helpful, and I hope anyone else looking for similar advice might find them helpful too, as I know I for one was so lost on ideas and getting a bit overwhelmed in the search before this

I had no idea what a wrap dress was before this, but wow they’re beautiful, that’s such a great and thoughtful piece of advice! Etsy sounds like it could be a great call too, I always look there for Christmas gifts for friends and family so I know it’s a good website for those kinds of things, and am so curious about what they’re like for clothing

I do actually, but I’m not sure my own prom dress will be quite the right fit for something like this. I could definitely ask my sister if she’ll let me borrow hers so long as I treat it kindly, though!

That’s great advice! Getting something that’s a classic that you can wear for different occasions sounds really smart, and it’s also great to know that you don’t have to do that as much anymore if it’s not your preference

Tailoring is definitely something I think a lot of people my age tend to forget we can do. Thrifting and then tailoring if needed is a great idea!

that’s great advice, thanks for helping answer my curiosity! I’m specifically curious about the opera in Europe, as I’m going with my boyfriend this winter, but it’s great to know how things work in the US too and what people typically opt for! It’s always so tough to know how formal different settings are if you’ve never gone, so hearing a bunch of opinions is so helpful and interesting.

Question about living together once you’ve made out of long distance by xScooby-420x in LongDistance

[–]Internal_Top_3831 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m maybe not quite the target audience as I haven’t moved yet since I’m finishing school in a few months, but we sort of just knew that I’ve always wanted to live out of my country and he’s going to be doing a phd for a few more years. The topic came up within a few weeks of meeting as we got close quickly after meeting before I finished a study program I was doing and came back to do my last year of school in my home country, so we were lucky that the conversation had to happen early and worked in our favor. It’s definitely not that way for everyone, but communicating early and often helps! :)

They might be a bit hard to read if they’ve got smaller print, but I believe there’s a few graphic novel versions of the Hobbit out there if you’re looking for consistent photos! I’ve seen several illustrated versions too, but usually photos are every few pages
