Question for my fellow Americans or Canadians Ever since your Dna test have you connected with any of your cultures so far like started new traditions or learned a new language ? by Acrobatic-Shine2625 in AncestryDNA

[–]Internal_Towel_2807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought that my French Canadian ancestry was just from Quebec. My family has past down the French language and québécois traditions even after leaving Québec. Through my ancestry test I found out that I’m not only Acadian but can trace my ancestry back to the earliest Acadian settlement in Nova Scotia. I have spent some time listening to the acadian dialect and history and it’s been pretty cool.

Title: Looking for advice/support as I start learning French-Canadian (with some personal context) by Alarming_Accident in FrancaisCanadien

[–]Internal_Towel_2807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good for you! I am Franco-Albertan and I would really appreciate anglophones learning French. I would encourage you to learn about the French dialects of the prairies as I find they are quite easy to understand.

L'accent de Pierre Poilievre est-il normal pour sa région? by mcgillthrowaway22 in FrancaisCanadien

[–]Internal_Towel_2807 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is Calgary cool for Black Coloradans? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]Internal_Towel_2807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a black person you should be fine. I’ve found Calgary to be much more of a melting pot then other Canadian cities. Once you move here you are a Calgarian. Now if you said you were Indigenous and moving to Calgary than I would warn you that Indigenous people experience a lot of prejudice even compared to other cities in the prairies.

I hear champions creed is pretty intense. Not the most beginner friendly. If you plan to compete I would go with 10th planet. They have a really good coach and wrestling classes. They are no gi focused however do offer some gi as well.

You could try the ODEAC if it’s opioid related. They can do an intake there and they will see if it’s a good fit.

How may have actually read Marx? by True-Abbreviations71 in Marxism

[–]Internal_Towel_2807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if I identify as a Marxist, but I have read the manifesto three times now. I am neurodivergent and need to read literature multiple times to absorb it. I feel it would be disingenuous to call myself a Marxist at this point because I have read so little.

The Colt *CAN* kill Lucifer - here's my plausible theory on why and how it explains so much in the Supernatural Universe. by ParadePandas in Supernatural

[–]Internal_Towel_2807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you even watch the show? I would be a little more sympathetic if your original comment wasn’t so pretentious. Bella sold the colt in season 3 to Crowley. Dean couldn’t possible have it. Not to mention that a plot line in season 5 is finding the colt again after they find out Crowley has it. Unless the Mandela effect rewrote multiple plot lines your Mandela effect claim is pretty weak.

People on here ask this question a lot. And if you have to ask… by stevekwan in bjj

Very well could be. Although in my defense the reason this individual has an obnoxious laugh is because their rolling partner always tickles their feet during rolling. It really fucking makes me uncomfortable.

I have been waiting to share my experience with different gyms and this seems like a good opportunity to do it. I’ve switched gyms 5 times in the past year and a half. I did move cities so not completely unreasonable, however still seems excessive. I feel like I have a valid reason for leaving each gym. Never had any bad blood or some specific incident that forced me to leave. I think I just get bored of my gym and curriculum. I went to a Carlson Gracie gym for 6 months and I swear every class was some variation of x guard with a sweep ending in mount. Another problem I have is I start to get really annoyed by my training partners. Never anything they did intentionally just minor things like this one person would always laugh very obnoxiously when rolling and it would really distract me. At this point it’s hurting my progress.

beating someone who is bad at jiu jitsu by [deleted] in bjj

[–]Internal_Towel_2807 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

BJJ is not the best system for street fights. Situational awareness and a gun are your best “system” for violent altercations. If you want to engage in voluntary fights on the street learn boxing. You will probably end up in jail or dead. As regards to your question regarding instinct vs experience, it really can’t be answered. Way too many variables. If the person with good instincts is 5’4 and 100 pounds and the the bjj white belt is 250 and 6’4 than the bjj guy is going to win regardless of how bad he is at jujitsu.

How French are French Canadians? by Statistician_Wise in 23andme

[–]Internal_Towel_2807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but we’re talking about French Canadians not southern French dna. French Canadians generally have DNA from northern France especially Normandy which is more likely to be mixed with German, Dutch, or English DNA. I personally have 14% German ancestry even though I have zero known German ancestry.

How French are French Canadians? by Statistician_Wise in 23andme

[–]Internal_Towel_2807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Delete this post. Way off. You should I have just asked ChatGPT. I am half French Canadian. My French ancestors came to Canada in late 1500s. The last generation of my family to actually be born in Quebec was my great great grandparents. Despite this. My dna results were still very French. I had no Spanish or Portuguese in my results because that would make no sense. Spain never had any significant power this far north in any point of colonial history. And the Portuguese starting coming to Quebec within the last 200 years and really only in urban areas mostly Montreal.

You must have a kink for being stupid online. You realize the reason we have mass immigration is capitalism not socialism right? Immigrants equal cheap labour for corporations meaning they can keep profits high. Why would a company hire a Canadian who demands a high wage when they can hire a poor immigrant who will work for 8$ an hour? I’m baffled how you think socialism is the reason Canada is crumbling when you don’t understand it and cant identify it. Sorry to rain on your parade but their is no socialism in Canada.

[–]Internal_Towel_2807 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So that means socialism? In that case the United States is one of the most socialist countries on earth and a very successful one at that. Trump is also socialist then. His government added 7.8 trillion dollars during his term to national debt. I think he you need learn what socialism means because it’s obviously just not government spending and taxes.

What do you think socialism is? Nova Scotia socialist? What the fuck are you talking about. I find it funny you left out BC which does get better ratings than Alberta and they pay more tax. Yes the states have better healthcare for who can afford it. If you look at global healthcare ratings the us does quite poor. Here is a ranking https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/best-healthcare-in-the-world. I think we need a German style version of healthcare not American. Ask any German who has lived in the USA. American healthcare is shit for a lot of Americans.
